Job summary

Forensicare invites applications for a Senior Psychologist within the Regional Forensic Mental Health Service in Gippsland. This part-time position (0.4 EFT, 16 hours weekly) offers specialist assessment, intervention and consultation across Gippsland, with supervision of students and contribution to service development.

Applicants require APHRA registration (or eligible), and a Master’s/Doctoral degree with relevant endorsement. Melbourne training may be required occasionally.

• Experience in forensic assessments and risk formulation.

Responsibilities

Senior Psychologist | Regional Forensic Mental Health Service

Location - Gippsland ( Traralgon, Bairnsdale, Sale, Warragul, Wonthagi) | Attending training in Melbourne when needed.

Work Type - Part Time Ongoing | 0.4 EFT | 16 hours per week

Pay Range - $108,279 to $123,915 pro -rata plus Super and Salary Packaging

Working within the Regional Forensic Mental Health Service (RFMHS), you'll provide specialist assessment, treatment and consultation services across the Gippsland region, supporting consumers, families, carers and partner agencies to achieve better recovery and community outcomes. You'll work as part of a highly skilled multidisciplinary team delivering evidence-based forensic mental health care while contributing to service development, research and workforce capability.

About the Role

As a Senior Psychologist, you will provide advanced forensic psychological assessment, intervention and consultation services for consumers with complex mental health and offending-related needs. You will play a key role in supporting recovery, reducing risk and building the capability of local services.

Key responsibilities include:

• Conducting specialist psychological, psychometric and forensic risk assessments
• Preparing high-quality clinical and court-related reports
• Delivering individual and group-based forensic interventions
• Providing expert consultation to clinicians, services and partner agencies
• Supporting consumer risk assessment, formulation and treatment planning
• Contributing to multidisciplinary care and service development
• Supervising psychology students, registrars and psychologists
• Participating in research, evaluation and quality improvement initiatives
• Supporting pathways into and out of secure and correctional settings.

About You

To be successful, you will bring:

• General registration as a Psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia (or eligibility pathway for overseas-trained psychologists)
• Master's or Doctoral-level psychology qualifications with an Area of Practice Endorsement (Clinical, Clinical Neuropsychology and/or Forensic Psychology)
• Eligibility as a Psychology Board approved supervisor
• At least five years' experience as a fully registered psychologist
• Experience undertaking forensic assessments and risk assessments
• Advanced clinical formulation and treatment planning skills
• Experience working with people experiencing mental illness, behavioural difficulties and offending behaviours
• Excellent report writing, consultation and stakeholder engagement skills
• A collaborative approach and ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
