Job summary

Deo Nirmaan Gold Pty Ltd in Wells Crossing, NSW, is seeking a Protected Cropping Grower to plan and coordinate production for cucumbers, aloe vera and berries, from soil preparation to harvesting, with attention to environmental and market conditions.

The ideal candidate holds an AQF Certificate III/IV or equivalent, with 3 years’ experience (or 5 years without formal training) in protected cropping. Strong crop management, budgeting and safety practices are essential to succeed in this role.

Qualifications

• AQF Certificate III or IV or equivalent required.
• 3 years' employment experience as a Protected Cropping Grower with relevant formal training, or at least 5 years' experience without formal training.
• Practical knowledge of protected cropping systems, crop management and growing techniques across cucumber, aloe vera and berry production.
• Ability to manage farm operations and finances, including budgeting and resource planning.

Responsibilities

• Plan and coordinate crop production and marketing activities for cucumbers, aloe vera and berries, from soil preparation through to harvesting, considering environmental and market conditions.
• Select plant and manage seeds, seedlings and bulbs, including grafting new varieties onto suitable rootstocks.
• Maintain crop growth through cultivation, de-budding, pruning and management of optimal growing conditions across all crop lines.
• Establish and monitor hydroponic and protected cropping systems, maintaining suitable growing conditions for cucumber and berry production.
• Organise farming operations including harvesting, grading, packaging, storage and dispatch of produce.
• Manage fertilizing, pest and weed control activities to maintain healthy and productive cucumber, aloe vera and berry crops.
• Select, train and supervise employees and contractors to ensure effective completion of farming activities.
• Monitor the implementation of quality assurance and food safety programs, and maintain production records to support compliance and market requirements.

To be successful in this role, it is essential you have:

• Practical knowledge of protected cropping systems, crop management and growing techniques, ideally across cucumber, aloe vera and berry production.
