Job summary

Miramar Group, part of the Steadfast network, is recruiting a Property Underwriter for our Melbourne team. You will build strong broker relationships, assess risk and deliver clear, commercially sound underwriting decisions across new business, renewals and amendments.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years' experience in insurance underwriting or a related insurance role.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong attention to detail.
• Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to communicate effectively with brokers, clients, service providers, and internal teams.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, with PS146 qualifications.

About the opportunity:

We are looking for a Property Underwriter to join our Melbourne team. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys building strong broker relationships, solving underwriting challenges and delivering clear, commercially sound decisions.

You will work closely with brokers, internal stakeholders and management to provide underwriting services across new business, renewals, policy amendments and cancellations. Alongside your technical underwriting capability, you’ll bring a customer‑first mindset, strong communication skills and a collaborative approach that supports trusted, long‑term relationships within the broker network.

What your days may look like

You may start your day connecting with brokers, reviewing submissions, renewals and priority enquiries. You’ll assess risk, clarify requirements and provide clear, timely underwriting terms in line with delegated authorities and underwriting guidelines.

Throughout the day, you’ll liaise with internal teams and management, respond to broker queries, and ensure accurate records and compliance obligations are met. You may also assist with training and supporting colleagues, helping to embed agreed systems and processes into daily workflows.

No two days are the same, but every day you’ll play a key role in supporting brokers, protecting the business and representing the Steadfast brand in market.
