The Opportunity

As a Projects Director, you will take the lead overseeing and managing key projects for Palm Island City Council. This position is essential in planning, coordinating, and executing projects that align with the Council's strategic objectives. The Projects Director will be responsible for ensuring projects are delivered on time, within scope, and budget, while fostering innovation and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop comprehensive project plans, including scope, objectives, timelines, and resource allocation.

Monitor and execute projects according to defined plans, ensuring adherence to budgets and schedules.

Identify and engage with project stakeholders, including council members, community groups, and external partners.

Conduct project reviews, audits and risk assessments to ensure compliance with quality standards, identifying and implementing corrective actions as needed.

Develop, track and manage project budgets, ensuring fiscal responsibility and identifying cost-saving opportunities.

Provide detailed project reports and presentations to senior leadership and council members.

About You:

Mandatory- Bachelor’s degree in project management, MBA, related degree or equivalent practical experience.

Mandatory- Current C Class driver’s licence and White Card.

Mandatory- Excellent project management skills with the ability to lead and mentor multidisciplinary teams in challenging environments.

Desirable- Proficient in Microsoft Office; knowledge of project management software is a plus.

Ability to manage stakeholders effectively, ensuring high-quality project outcomes.

Demonstrated leadership in promoting a culture of safety and compliance.
