Job summary

Nova Systems seeks a Scheduler to support Navy patrol boats and hydrographic vessels from Cairns, under the Regional Maintenance Provider – North East contract. The role focuses on sequencing, deconflicting, and forecasting docking activities to keep projects on track.

The ideal candidate has planning/scheduling experience, strong Excel and MS Project skills, and the ability to work autonomously under pressure while communicating clearly with clients and team members.

Qualifications

• Experience in planning and/or project scheduling; defence experience preferred.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work autonomously.
• Australian citizenship with Baseline security clearance or ability to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Sequence approved workpacks during dockings to ensure logical flow.
• Deconflict work activities for safe, efficient execution.
• Maintain and update the integrated docking schedule.
• Adjust schedules in response to defects or work-in-way.
• Provide forecast of remaining work and docking progress.
• Identify schedule risks and mitigation options.
• Support schedule impact analysis and forecasting.
• Contribute inputs for internal and client reporting.

Job description

As a Scheduler you will work as part of the team supporting Norsta Maritime to maintain the Navy patrol boats and hydrographic vessels. You will be responsible for supporting the services provided under the Regional Maintenance Provider - North East contract.

This role is highly rewarding as it centres around the success of delivering Navy's Patrol and Hydrographic capability in the Far North.

Please note: These roles are based in Cairns and these roles are offered as a fixed term contract opportunities.

What you'll be involved with:

• Sequencing approved workpacks during dockings to ensure logical flow and adherence to dependencies
• Deconflicting work activities to ensure safe and efficient execution
• Maintaining and updating the integrated docking schedule
• Adjusting schedules in response to new defects or work-in-way
• Maintaining an accurate forecast of remaining work and docking progress.
• Identifying schedule risks and opportunities, and recommending effective mitigation strategies
• Support with schedule impact analysis and forecasting
• Provide high-quality inputs and analysis for internal and client reporting

What we would like from you:

• Experience in planning and/or project scheduling, preferably within Defence but other industries will be considered
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
• Experience with MS Project or similar scheduling tool
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Ability to work autonomously and manage multiple priorities
• Australian citizenship with Baseline (preferred) security clearance or the ability to obtain one
• Able to influence and guide clients
• Team player, flexible and ability to work under pressure to deliver quality products to deadlines
