Job summary

ConnectSydney, a joint venture focused on Harbour Zone transport infrastructure, seeks an experienced Project Manager to lead civil and structural initiatives, including bridges, tunnels and marine assets, with emphasis on maintenance work methodologies and budgets. You will oversee planning, tendering, and subcontractor management while ensuring safety, quality and environmental compliance.

The role requires strong stakeholder engagement and proven ability to deliver complex projects on time

Qualifications

  • Minimum 10 years of experience delivering civil, structural, maintenance or infrastructure projects.
  • Demonstrated experience delivering structural assets such as bridges, culverts, marine structures or tunnels.
  • Proven ability to manage budgets, forecasts, schedules, risks and commercial outcomes.
  • Experience administering construction and maintenance contracts with subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Strong stakeholder management across clients, contractors, consultants and regulators.
  • Experience supporting multidisciplinary teams in safety-critical operations.

Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end delivery of structural infrastructure projects including bridges and tunnels.
  • Oversee development of plans for maintenance and new works methodologies.
  • Assist with detailed cost estimates, business cases and budgets for planning and delivery.
  • Prepare tender documents to protect the company's interests and ensure compliance.
  • Develop and maintain plans, schedules, budgets, forecasts, and resources for delivery.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of processes, systems and procedures.
  • Oversee contract activities to meet objectives and implement corrective actions when needed.
  • Manage subcontractors and suppliers to meet specifications, terms and budget.
  • Monitor progress, forecast updates, and monthly reports on cost/time/safety/environment.
  • Ensure safety, quality, environmental and community commitments are met in all works.

Job description

ConnectSydney, a joint venture of ServiceStream, Boral, and Johnson Controls, in partnership with Transport for NSW (TfNSW), is entrusted with the management of the Harbour Zone. Our responsibilities encompass routine maintenance, strategic enhancements, and specialised projects aimed at bolstering Sydney's transport infrastructure.

The Project Manager will be responsible for all aspects of the formation: documentation and estimation of work methodology pertaining to the maintenance or construction of road infrastructure with an expertise in bridge construction and/or maintenance. Additionally, the position will be called upon from time to time to oversee site maintenance activities and oversee new and upgrade works.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the end-to-end delivery of structural infrastructure projects including bridges, tunnels, marine structures, transport assets, and other civil structures.
  • Oversee the development of plans laying out maintenance and new works methodology of specific maintenance works, tactical or special projects.
  • Assist in the preparation of detailed cost estimates, business cases, and project budgets to support planning and delivery activities.
  • Undertake the preparation of business tender documents and ensure they are undertaken in a way that protects company interests
  • Develop and maintain Management plans, methodologies, schedules, budgets, forecasts, and resource requirements for project delivery.
  • Contribute toward the continuous improvement of all aspects of our business systems, policies and procedures
  • As assigned overview all contract activities to ensure the required project/operational objectives are met and implement corrective actions where necessary
  • As assigned overview the management and administration of sub-contractors and suppliers to ensure works are executed to the satisfaction of the client and in accordance with agreed specifications, terms, conditions and budget
  • Monitor progress and forecasts and compile monthly reports detailing cost, time, safety and environmental aspects. Report immediately any event which will significantly change previous forecasts
  • Ensure all Safety, Quality, Environmental, community, sustainability requirements are met as part of development and delivery of all maintenance and field works or project delivery.
About You:
  • Minimum 10 years' experience delivering civil, structural, construction, maintenance, or infrastructure projects.
  • Demonstrated experience delivering structural assets including bridges, culverts, marine structures, tunnels, or similar infrastructure maintenance projects.
  • Proven experience managing project budgets, forecasts, schedules, risks, and commercial outcomes.
  • Demonstrated experience administering construction and maintenance contracts and managing subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Strong stakeholder management experience across clients, contractors, consultants, utility authorities, and regulatory agencies.
  • Experience assisting multidisciplinary teams in a safety-critical operational environment.
