Job description

Project Manager - Structural Steel
About Supplyhaus

Backed by the McNab Group, Supplyhaus is reimagining construction supply by combining builder expertise with specialist product solutions. We deliver façade, joinery and steel packages that bring together quality, innovation and certainty for our clients.

Supplyhaus Steel provides end-to-end structural steel solutions, from design coordination and fabrication through to logistics and installation. As our business continues to grow, we're looking for a driven Steel Project Manager to help deliver exceptional outcomes across our project portfolio.

About the role

As Project Manager, you'll take ownership of multiple structural steel projects from estimating and design coordination through to fabrication, delivery and installation. You'll bring together clients, construction teams, designers, fabricators and subcontractors to deliver projects safely, on programme, within budget and to the highest quality standards.

This is a hands‑on, commercially focused role where you'll balance the big picture with the detail. You will manage lead times, resolve design issues, coordinate installation and protect project profitability. Working closely with the Steel Manager and broader teams, you'll also help strengthen our delivery systems and support the continued growth of Supplyhaus Steel.

What you'll be responsible for
  • Project delivery: Manage multiple structural steel projects from pre‑construction through to fabrication, logistics, installation and handover.
  • Planning and coordination: Develop project programmes, manage lead times and coordinate drafting, design, procurement and installation activities.
  • Commercial performance: Own project budgets, cash flow, progress claims, variations, cost control and margin forecasting.
  • Procurement and suppliers: Manage subcontractor selection and relationships with fabricators, suppliers and freight providers to achieve quality, cost and programme objectives.
  • Site installation: Conduct regular site visits, coordinate rigging subcontractors and work with construction teams to resolve issues and maintain progress.
  • Quality assurance: Oversee fabrication and installation quality, inspections, documentation and timely defect resolution, including engagement with overseas suppliers where required.
  • Safety and compliance: Ensure subcontractors meet HSEQ requirements and safe installation practices are considered throughout design and planning.
  • Client relationships: Build strong partnerships with clients and stakeholders, communicating proactively and delivering on commitments.
  • Leadership and improvement: Support project teams, drive accountability and continuously improve our systems, processes and delivery standards.
About you

You are an experienced Project Manager with a strong background in structural steel or commercial construction industry. You thrive on building relationships, solving complex challenges and delivering exceptional outcomes for your customers. With strong commercial acumen and a collaborative leadership style, you enjoy mentoring others and successfully delivering projects from concept through to completion.

You'll ideally bring:
  • Previous solid experience as a Project Manager working in the steel or construction industry.
  • Demonstrated experience managing the full project lifecycle, including design input, procurement, fabrication, logistics and site installation.
  • Proven ability to successfully deliver multiple concurrent projects while maintaining programme, budget, quality and safety outcomes.
  • Strong commercial acumen with experience managing project margins, variations, claims, forecasting and cash flow.
  • A customer‑focused approach with the ability to build and maintain trusted relationships from project commencement through to completion.
  • Experience coordinating contractors, suppliers, drafting and fabrication teams, and internal stakeholders.
  • Strong understanding of construction systems, contractor management, value engineering and buildability principles.
  • Proven ability to identify programme, commercial and technical risks early and implement practical solutions.
  • Sound knowledge of the National Construction Code (NCC), relevant legislation and Australian Standards.
  • Strong technical capability, including site measuring, interpreting drawings and sketching bespoke fabrication solutions.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, reporting and problem‑solving skills.
  • Intermediate Microsoft Office skills. Experience using Jobpac will be highly regarded.
  • A current passport and driver's licence and willingness to travel regularly to project sites across South East Queensland, with occasional overseas travel if required.
  • A tertiary qualification in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying or a related discipline, or a trade qualification within the commercial construction industry.
  • A degree in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Engineering or a related discipline, or a relevant trade qualification, will be highly regarded but not required.
Why join Supplyhaus?
