Job summary

Talent International is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead a payroll implementation and transformation program in Brisbane.

You will work across Payroll, HR, Technology and vendors to deliver a new payroll solution, with a focus on managing data migrations, testing and cutover activities. This initial 6-month contract supports business readiness and transition to BAU.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end payroll implementation delivery with milestones, scope, budget and timelines.
• Develop and maintain project plan, schedule, RAID, governance and reporting.
• Coordinate activities across Payroll, HR, Finance, Technology, vendors and partners.
• Manage multiple workstreams including data migration, testing, cutover and go-live.
• Establish governance, reporting and decision-making processes for the program.
• Manage risks, issues, dependencies and changes with escalation and resolution.
• Collaborate with BAs, technical teams and SMEs to ensure requirements are met.
• Oversee data migration, validation, reconciliation and testing activities.
• Coordinate system, integration, payroll parallel testing and user acceptance testing.
• Manage implementation partners and third-party vendors to meet scope and timelines.

Project Manager - (Payroll Implementation)

Working for a key government-owned corporation, we are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead the delivery of a payroll implementation and transformation program.

This is an initial 6-month contract based in Brisbane, working closely with Payroll, HR, Technology, business stakeholders and implementation partners to successfully deliver a new payroll solution.

The successful candidate will have strong experience managing payroll, HRIS or HCM implementations, with the ability to coordinate complex business and technology workstreams, manage vendors and stakeholders, and drive the program through implementation, testing, cutover and transition to BAU.

Experience with ADP, SAP SuccessFactors and/or Oracle HCM will be highly regarded.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the end-to-end delivery of the payroll implementation, ensuring key milestones, scope, budget and timelines are effectively managed.
• Develop and maintain the project plan, schedule, governance framework, RAID register and delivery reporting.
• Coordinate activities across Payroll, HR, Finance, Technology, vendors and implementation partners.
• Manage multiple workstreams including solution implementation, integrations, data migration, testing, business readiness and cutover.
• Establish clear project governance, reporting and decision-making processes.
• Manage project risks, issues, dependencies and changes, ensuring appropriate escalation and resolution.
• Work closely with Business Analysts, technical teams and business SMEs to ensure requirements are understood and delivered.
• Oversee data migration, validation and reconciliation activities in partnership with payroll and technical teams.
• Coordinate system, integration, payroll parallel testing and user acceptance testing activities.
• Manage implementation partners and third-party vendors, ensuring deliverables are completed in line with agreed scope and timelines.
• Develop and manage implementation, cutover and go-live plans.
• Support business readiness, stakeholder communications, training and transition into BAU operations.
• Provide clear and regular reporting to project sponsors, steering committees and senior stakeholders.

Skills & Experience

• Demonstrated experience as a Project Manager delivering payroll, HRIS or HCM implementation programs.
• Strong understanding of end-to-end payroll processes and the complexities associated with payroll system implementations.
• Proven experience managing technology implementation projects involving business, technical and vendor teams.
• Experience managing data migration, system integrations, testing, cutover and go-live activities.
• Strong project planning, governance, risk and issue management capabilities.
• Demonstrated experience managing external implementation partners and technology vendors.
• Strong stakeholder management skills, including experience working with senior business and technology stakeholders.
• Ability to manage competing priorities, dependencies and delivery timelines within complex environments.
• Excellent communication, organisation and leadership skills.
• Strong attention to detail and a delivery-focused approach.
