Job summary

Elm Commercial Joinery is a growing Melbourne-based commercial joinery manufacturer operating from our modern facility in Officer South. We’re seeking an experienced Project Manager to own commercial joinery projects from handover through to completion, combining project management, client relationships, job costing, programming and coordination.

Joinery experience is valued but not essential; candidates from commercial construction, fitout, interiors or shopfitting are encouraged to apply.

Qualifications

• Experienced in project management within commercial construction, fitout, joinery, interiors or similar industries.
• Commercially minded with a good understanding of job costing, budgets and profitability.
• Confident managing variations and additional works.
• Excellent with people, clients and stakeholder relationships.
• Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Strong in programming, planning and prioritising.
• Comfortable dealing directly with builders, Project Managers and Site Managers.
• Proactive and able to anticipate and resolve issues early.
• Strong communication skills and ownership mentality.
• Confident using project management and business software.
• Holder of a current Australian driver licence and eligible to work in Australia.

Responsibilities

• Manage projects from handover through to completion as the key client liaison.
• Coordinate shop drawings, approvals, procurement, production, delivery and installation.
• Develop and maintain project programs and milestones.
• Monitor budgets, costs and profitability and identify variances.
• Track labour, materials and subcontractor costs.

The Role

You'll be responsible for managing projects from handover through to completion, acting as the key link between our clients and our internal drafting, production and installation teams.

• Manage multiple commercial projects from handover through to completion
• Act as the primary point of contact for builders and clients
• Build strong relationships with Project Managers, Site Managers and project teams
• Coordinate shop drawings, approvals, procurement, production, delivery and installation
• Develop and maintain project programs and key milestones
• Monitor project budgets, job costs and profitability
• Track labour, materials, subcontractor and other project costs
• Identify and manage variations and additional works
• Monitor project performance against budget and identify potential cost overruns early
• Coordinate suppliers and subcontractors
• Attend project and site meetings as required
• Work closely with drafting, factory and installation teams
• Identify risks, resolve issues and keep projects moving
• Manage defects, close-out and final handover
• Maintain accurate project documentation and reporting
• Deliver a high standard of customer service throughout the project

About You

We're looking for someone who is:

• Experienced in project management within commercial construction, fitout, joinery, interiors, shopfitting or a similar industry
• Commercially minded with a good understanding of job costing, budgets and project profitability
• Confident managing variations and additional works
• Excellent with people, clients and stakeholder relationships
• Highly organised and capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously
• Strong at programming, planning and prioritising
• Comfortable dealing directly with builders, Project Managers and Site Managers
• Proactive and able to identify problems before they become major issues
• A strong communicator who can coordinate different teams effectively
• Accountable and comfortable taking ownership of project outcomes
• Confident using project management and business software
• Holder of a current Australian driver licence
• Eligible to work in Australia

Joinery Experience

Previous commercial joinery experience is advantageous, but it is not essential.

We're more interested in finding a strong Project Manager with the right commercial awareness, people skills, organisation and ownership mentality.
