Job summary

Datacom is seeking a Project Manager for a six-month fixed-term contract in Canberra. You will oversee delivery of large, complex projects from handover to successful outcomes, ensuring quality, scope, budget and schedule while collaborating with sales, delivery teams and clients.

The role supports agile, waterfall and hybrid approaches across multi-platform environments, with hybrid working options. You will manage budgets, stakeholder communications, and ensure realization of defined project

Qualifications

  • Extensive experience on large, complex projects, preferably migration programs.
  • Ability to build and lead collaborative project teams to achieve goals.
  • Broad understanding of software development and related tech dependencies.
  • Experience with Agile, Staged and Waterfall methodologies.
  • Proficient in Jira, Confluence, MS Project, ServiceNow or similar tools.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure large projects meet quality, time, cost, and contractual requirements.
  • Collaborate on multi-platform projects with concurrent customer work.
  • Coordinate documentation, design, development, and testing of enhancements.
  • Tailor project methodology per project needs.
  • Prepare budgets and monitor project financials and benefits realization.

About the Role (your why)

The role of the Project Manager is to ensure that all Projects are delivered to the highest quality standard, within scope, in budget and on time. You will assist with Project Delivery which begins at the point of handover from the Sales team.

We have offices nationally, we like to bring people together in person when we can, but we are mindful of the benefits of working from home for work/life balance. We therefore leave it to you and the team you join to figure out what works best!

What You’ll Do:
  • Ensuring preparation/completion of large projects to appropriate quality standards within time/cost constraints as well as meeting contractual requirements and company budget requirements.
  • Work collaboratively on largescale projects, typically in a complex, multi-platform technical environment with concurrent customer projects
  • Coordinating documentation, design, development and testing of enhancements and new development projects.
  • Tailoring project methodology to individual projects when needed.
  • Preparing project budgets, attaining necessary approvals in a timely manner and monitoring project financials and the realisation of defined project benefits.
  • Exceeding stakeholder expectations through the application of stakeholder management disciplines.

What You’ll Bring:

We are seeking a resilient and adaptable team player to manage multiple mid to large‑sized projects, who can bring a dynamic element to our existing professional project management capability.

You will have:

  • Extensive experience working on large complex projects, preferably with a focus on largescale migration projects.
  • Ability to build and lead collaborative project teams to achieve organisational goals and objectives.
  • Broad and deep understanding of technical software development and implementation projects and related technology dependencies.
  • Strong communication skills with proven experience of managing various stakeholders of all levels and the ability to tailor your conversations accordingly.
  • Strong financial management practices with a clear understanding of the relationship between costs, utilisation and project revenue.
  • Experience working with Agile, Staged and Waterfall methodologies is essential.
  • Experience with Jira, Confluence, MS Project, ServiceNow, or similar delivery and reporting tools.
