Job summary

The Department of Health Tasmania is seeking a Project Manager - FBS Band 7 to oversee the delivery of project activities across Finance and Business Support. The role ensures outputs align with agency policies, procedures and relevant legislation, and requires identifying issues and driving changes to improve efficiency.

Applicants should have proven project management experience, strong strategic and analytical capabilities, and excellent written and verbal communication skills for stakeholder

• Provides several functions across the Agency including budget processes, financial reporting, strategic financial advice, business support, procurement, supply, revenue management and financial operations
• Is responsible for developing and managing a wide variety of business processes

The Role

Manages the delivery of project activities across Finance and Business Support and ensures project outputs and outcomes are aligned with Agency policies, procedures, core business functions and relevant legislation. Identifies issues and drives change in policies, procedures, systems and processes to improve efficiency and effectiveness across Finance and Business Support.

You will need

• Demonstrated high level knowledge and experience in contemporary project management, together with a proven capacity to manage and deliver complex project objectives.
• Demonstrated high level strategic, conceptual, and analytical skills, including experience in analysing business processes, policies, procedures and systems to identify and make recommendations.
• Demonstrated high-level interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, including consultation, negotiation, influence, and liaison skills with the capacity to identify stakeholder requirements and deliver key outcomes.

Details of appointment

Fixed term full time, day worker position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible for a period of 12 months. Notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant. Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.

Salary: $132,460 to $139,392 per annum. Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount. Salary range is in accordance with Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement 2025.
