Job summary

Seek is looking for an experienced Project Manager to join their Sydney team on a permanent basis. You will manage construction projects for councils and private clients, from new facilities to heritage restorations and interior fit-outs.

Based in Sydney, you will lead delivery from award to handover, coordinating site managers and subcontractors to ensure safety, on-time and on-budget results. A degree in Construction/PM and Australian working rights are required.

Qualifications

• Essential Australian experience as a Project Manager.

• Strong understanding of construction methodologies, project management and site delivery.
• Practical site-based construction experience.
• Strong communication and coordination skills.
• Ability to work closely with site teams, subcontractors, consultants and clients.

Responsibilities

• Deliver projects from start to finish, set the program and drive procurement/costs.
• Maintain command of contracts across GC21, AS4000, AS2124 and government forms.
• Own client relationships and keep stakeholders informed.
• Lead site managers, engage subcontractors and suppliers to meet standards.
• Report spend, forecast cost to complete, and present monthly cost/program/risk updates.
• Uphold safety, quality and environmental standards with SWMS/ITP reviews.
• Coordinate design and deliver handover packages (as-builts, O&Ms, certification).
• Support tender reviews and handovers from estimating to delivery.

Job description

An exciting permanent opportunity is now available for an experienced Project Manager to join their Sydney team.

We’re seeking a seasoned Project Manager whose experience sits in building construction.The work is a genuine mix - building new council facilities and sporting venues, breathing life back into heritage-listed assets, fixing structural problems, and delivering commercial interiors.

Based in Sydney you will work closely with the Director, supporting the delivery of projects from contract award through to handover. You’ll typically run several projects at once, and lead site managers and subcontractors to deliver them safely, on time and on budget.

The Role

You will be delivering construction projects for councils & private clients across Sydney. Work covers everything from new public spaces and sporting grounds to restoration of older buildings, commercial fit outs and structural rectifications.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver from start to finish – set the program and keep it honest, drive procurement, manage cost, resolve variations and submit progress claims without delay
• Stay in command of the contract – work fluently across GC21, AS4000, AS2124 and government contract forms, managing EOTs, RFIs, notices and correspondence proactively rather than reactively
• Own the client relationship – you’re the direct line for clients, superintendents, consultants and authorities, and you’ll keep each of them informed and onside
• Lead the people doing the work – mentor and support site managers, engage subcontractors and suppliers, and set the standard they’re expected to meet
• Report with confidence – track spend against budget, forecast cost to complete, and give leadership a clear monthly read on cost, program and risk
• Protect safety, quality and environment – uphold compliance through the integrated management system, with hands-on involvement in SWMS reviews, ITPs and inspections
• Close out cleanly – manage project documentation, coordinate design, and deliver complete handover packages (as-builts, O&Ms, certification)
• Help win the next one – contribute to tender reviews and buildability assessments, and ensure a smooth handover from estimating into delivery
