Job summary

Johnson Controls in Sydney is seeking an experienced Project Manager - Building Automation Systems (BMS) to lead complex, technically challenging projects from initiation to commissioning, coordinating engineers, technicians, and stakeholders to deliver on time, safely and to budget.

You will apply knowledge of BMS/BAS architecture, FAT/SAT coordination, and project financials while driving continuous improvement and maintaining high client satisfaction on large-scale facilities.

Qualifications

  • Trade qualification in Electrical or HVAC, or an Engineering degree.
  • Proven experience delivering Building Management Systems (BMS), Building Automation Systems (BAS), HVAC controls, or related infrastructure projects.
  • Strong understanding of BMS architecture, control systems, and overall system design principles.
  • Experience managing projects through design, implementation, testing, commissioning, and client handover.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage project financials, programming, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and customer relationship management skills.
  • Ability to adapt and thrive in an evolving, digitally enabled environment.
  • Experience coordinating FAT and SAT activities.
  • Knowledge of BIM and AutoCAD.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Project, Excel, Word, and Visio.
  • Experience standardising software deliverables, points lists, project documentation, and commissioning processes.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the planning, coordination, execution, and successful delivery of Building Automation and Controls projects.
  • Manage project scope, schedule, resources, risks, and budgets to achieve project objectives.
  • Provide leadership and direction to internal teams, subcontractors, and project stakeholders.
  • Monitor and report on project financial performance, forecasting, and profitability.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and environmental standards across all project activities.
  • Build strong customer relationships and act as a trusted advisor throughout project delivery.
  • Coordinate Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), commissioning, and handover activities.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives, identifying opportunities to enhance project delivery, operational efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
  • Maintain high levels of professionalism, accuracy while managing multiple project priorities.

Key Responsibilities
