We are currently seeking an experienced and driven Project Manager to join our team, overseeing the successful delivery of water infrastructure projects across South Australia, including pipe installation and water treatment facilities. This role will manage a mix of regional and metropolitan projects, ensuring they are delivered safely, on time, and within budget.

The Project Managers are responsible for driving operational safety through a ‘care based’ approach, managing costs, revenue, and profitability; leading exceptional team performance to achieve established business objectives.

You will bring a strong background in construction and water main installation, with a proven track record of managing brownfield projects, pre-contract activities, and driving delivery excellence.

Key Project Scope

Key Project Scope Includes:

  • Site investigations and design management
  • Minor and major water and wastewater pipelines and ancillaries including reticulation mains and trunk mains in brownfield environments up to DN1200
  • Deep excavation and open-cut installation of gravity sewer mains up to DN500 including installation of associated infrastructure
  • Trenchless pipelaying including horizontal directional drilling and microtunnelling
  • Management of complex temporary works and traffic arrangements
Key Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the full project lifecycle including pre-contract involvement, design coordination, project planning, delivery execution, and close-out across both metropolitan and regional sites in South Australia.
  • Proactively manage and oversee day-to-day project operations, coordinating with Project Supervisors and Engineers to drive progress, manage issues, and ensure performance meets contractual, safety, and financial targets.
  • Contribute to tender preparation, methodology development, and construction program planning. Review constructability and ensure risk mitigation strategies are in place during the pre-award phase.
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of relevant contracts, scopes of work, schedules, and annexures, ensuring compliance and cost-effective execution.
  • Coordinate and manage the design review process, ensuring integration of client requirements, constructability feedback, and delivery constraints from early stages.
  • Lead project risk management, including development of work breakdown structures, identification of potential issues early, and implementation of corrective actions.
  • Manage complex brownfield construction environments, ensuring service relocations and temporary works are carefully coordinated to minimize disruption and maintain safety.
  • Monitor and control project budgets, cost forecasts, and financial performance. Approve subcontractor and supplier invoices, track variations, and implement actions to maintain profitability.
  • Work with internal procurement teams to centralize purchasing where possible, minimizing unnecessary spend and optimizing project resources.
  • Oversee subcontractor procurement and onboarding – including identification, tendering, contract negotiation, and ensuring compliance with insurance, licensing, and WHS requirements.
  • Prepare and deliver accurate weekly and monthly reports for senior management, clearly outlining progress, risks, opportunities, and financial performance.
  • Ensure full QA and HSEC compliance across all aspects of the project. Set up systems and documentation from day one and ensure consistent application through to completion.
  • Lead safety behaviour on site by setting high standards, communicating expectations, and supporting teams and subcontractors to deliver safe outcomes.
  • Identify and implement opportunities for continuous improvement in project delivery – reducing cost and time while enhancing safety, quality, and client satisfaction.
Qualifications & Experience

Qualifications & Experience:

  • 5+ years Project Management experience within the Water, Gas and Oil space.
  • Bachelor of Engineering degree (4-year duration) accredited by Engineers Australia at level of Professional Engineer, or equivalent engineering body.
  • Project delivery experience on water and wastewater projects
  • Experience in estimation costing for projects and working to a budget
  • A high level of business and commercial acumen backed by a sound ability to create, read and interpret budgets, financial statements and analyse variance reports.
  • Strong safety leadership capability.
  • Excellent relationship building, problem solving, negotiation and leadership skills.
