Job summary

NSW Public Works is seeking an experienced Project Manager to deliver a diverse portfolio of civil and community infrastructure projects across the South Coast. You’ll lead projects end‑to‑end, managing scope, programme, risk and commercial performance while advising clients and steering procurement and contracts.

• Temporary full-time -2 years
• Location: Queanbeyan

• Clerk Grade 9/10, Salary from $129,464 to $142,665 plus superannuation and leave loading

About the role

NSW Public Works (NSW PW) is part of the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development and supports local and state government agencies to deliver critical infrastructure initiatives by providing expert advisory, planning, design, delivery and support services.

We’re seeking an experienced Project Manager to deliver a diverse portfolio of civil and community infrastructure projects across the South Coast. This includes water and wastewater infrastructure, transport interfaces, and public assets critical to regional growth.

You’ll lead projects end-to-end—managing scope, programme, risk, and commercial performance—while acting as a trusted advisor to clients. The role also involves leading procurement and contracts, and supporting a high-performing team environment.

About You

We’re looking for someone with a proven ability to deliver projects in environments where clear communication, good judgement and strong stakeholder engagement are essential.

You will bring:

• A background in engineering, construction, or major infrastructure project management
• Experience managing multiple projects with defined time, cost and quality outcomes
• Knowledge of contract administration, procurement, and delivery risk management
• Strong communication skills with the ability to engage diverse client groups and community stakeholders
• A commitment to professional integrity, teamwork, and strong work ethic
• Relevant trade, post‑trade or tertiary qualifications (engineering preferred; construction/project management considered)
• Demonstrated experience in civil, water, wastewater or similar infrastructure
• A valid NSW Driver Licence and willingness to travel to project sites across the region (including occasional overnight stays)
