Job summary

Safran Electronics & Defense Australasia Pty Ltd (SEDA), based in Sydney with oversight across Oceania, seeks an experienced Project Manager to drive the successful delivery of defence-related projects. You will report to the Head of Programs and ensure alignment with strategic objectives, customer requirements, and best industry practices.

Responsibilities include schedule development, earned value and cost management, risk mitigation, and leadership of multi-disciplinary teams.

Qualifications

  • Minimum five years' experience in Project Management in Defence or similar highly regulated environment.
  • Knowledge of Defence Acquisition and Sustainment contracts.
  • Tertiary qualification in Project Management, Engineering or related fields.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain an Australian Department of Defence security clearance to Negative Vetting Level 1.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and administration skills.
  • Competent in problem solving, team building, planning and decision making.
  • Commercial and Financial acumen.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain project schedules using MS Project and resource planning.
  • Apply Earned Value Management techniques to monitor progress and cost.
  • Manage project costs and ensure positive cash flow.
  • Identify and mitigate schedule and cost risks.
  • Prepare internal and customer status reports and presentations.
  • Support leadership of internal multi-disciplinary engineering teams.
  • Coordinate meetings and document actions and minutes.

ABOUT THE ROLE:

To ensure Safran Electronics and Defense Australasia (SEDA) readiness for continued business growth, SEDA is seeking a suitably qualified Project Manager. Reporting to the Head of Programs, the Project Manager ensures the successful delivery of assigned SEDA projects. This role oversees project execution to ensure alignment with strategic objectives, customer requirements, and industry best practices.

In this role, you will be responsible for;

  • Schedule development. This role will require a sound knowledge of MS Project and be able to create a resourced schedule.
  • Earn Value Management. Have a good understanding of earn value and apply earn value techniques to the projects and manage the projects using earn value data.
  • Cost Management. Have a good understanding of cost planning to ensure a positive cashflow is maintained.
  • Risk Management. Have a solid understanding of risk management and the application of mitigation strategies to minimise impact of both schedule and cost risks.
  • Reporting. Support in the preparation of internal status reports as well as those prepared for customers and stakeholders.
  • Leadership. Support the management of internal multi-discipline engineering teams.
  • Communication and Meetings. Support in the conduct of project level meetings, by managing action items and minutes.
Candidate skills & requirements
