The Role

Join our Building Engineering Services Business Group at HDR as a Project Finance Assistant & Team Administrator. Based in Sydney, this entry-level position is perfect for someone looking to start their career. You'll support the full financial lifecycle of projects and assist with administrative tasks across various business functions to help keep operations running smoothly.

Reporting to the Project Accountant, this role offers a fantastic opportunity to gain experience in project delivery through both financial administration and team support, along with general administrative duties. In this role, you will work with a team delivering projects throughout Australia and Singapore, giving you exposure at a global level.

In the role of Project Finance Assistant and Team Administrator, we’ll count on you to:

• Support the project lifecycle from setup to closure.
• Timesheet administration – ensure timesheets are submitted and approved according to deadlines.
• Provide administrative support to business groups, project teams or others, as required.
• Ensure accurate and timely invoicing and payment processing.
• Assist with project budgeting, invoicing and monthly status reports.
• Monitor accounts receivable and follow up outstanding debtors.
• Ensure all financial activities align with internal policies, regulatory requirements, and industry standards.
• Support the Project Accountant as required.

Qualifications & Experience

• Client service approach and ability to partner with our project teams.
• Willingness to learn and a solutions-focused attitude.
• Flexibility and ability to prioritise, adjust to changes, and handle multiple tasks at once.
• Previous experience working in an engineering consulting environment is advantageous.
• Previous experience working in a project-based environment is advantageous.
• Previous experience providing financial management support (accounts payable/receivable) is advantageous but not essential.
• You will be confident in the use of Microsoft Office Programs, with a high level of computer literacy.
• Intermediate level of Microsoft Excel Skills.
• Strong data-entry and record keeping ability, with high levels of attention to detail
