NSW Telco Authority within NSW Department of Customer Service is seeking a Project Field Manager to oversee field delivery of critical telecoms infrastructure across NSW. You will supervise installation, testing and commissioning, coordinate subcontractors and ensure safety and quality on site.

The role requires Australian citizenship with Baseline (or higher) security clearance, travel flexibility, and qualifications like White Card, RF EME Awareness, CPR/First Aid, 4WD, and a full driver

Responsibilities

  • Overseeing regular site inspections and audits during construction and post-construction of mission-critical communications infrastructure to identify and address site risks and support quality delivery outcomes.
  • Providing specialist advice and oversight to field and construction teams to ensure effective site delivery through governance, technical issue resolution, and compliance with NSWTA guidelines or processes, informed by field experience.
  • Managing site access requirements and delivery challenges, including working with customer and agency partners to preserve existing service and coverage during planned activities on site.
  • Ensuring compliance with WHS requirements and safe work practices are always adhered to. Coordinating with project managers and contractors to resolve issues in a timely manner.
  • Overseeing testing, commissioning and quality assurance activities including working closely with delivery operations teams and Network Operations Centre (NOC).
  • Providing updates and reporting on delivery progress including UAT testing, defect resolutions and any other site related risks to delivery.

Grade: 11/12

Salary range: $154,231-178,369 + superannuation and leave loading

Duration: permanent full-time role, ongoing

Location: Hybrid when not travelling. This may be subject to change in line with DCS workplace policies. Frequent and overnight travel is required as part of this role.

About the Role

A new and exciting opportunity has arisen for a Project Field Manager to join NSW Telco Authority (NSWTA).

As part of our growing delivery portfolio, you will contribute to infrastructure programs that improve public safety communications and connectivity across NSW. This role supports the expansion and enhancement of the Public Safety Network (PSN), delivering increased outdoor and in‑building coverage to ensure reliable communications for emergency services and government agencies in NSW.

As a Project Field Manager, you will provide field‑based expertise and technical oversight of telecommunications infrastructure projects, ensuring construction activities are delivered safely, efficiently and in line with program requirements. You will oversee the installation, testing and commissioning of network infrastructure, coordinate subcontractors, resolve onsite technical issues, and ensure quality standards are met before assets are placed into service. The role plays a key part in managing delivery risks, maintaining safe work practices and supporting the successful completion of infrastructure projects.

About the team

This role sits within the Program Delivery team in the NSW Telco Authority.

Program Delivery delivers programs and projects from concept to completion, providing expert digital and construction project management capability to support customer and operational outcomes.

Your responsibilities will include

  • Managing site access requirements and delivery challenges, including working with customer and agency partners to preserve existing service and coverage during planned activities on site.

    Coordinating with project managers and contractors to resolve issues in a timely manner.

To be successful in this role you will have
  • Essential Security Clearance: Must be an Australian citizen and hold, or be able to obtain and maintain, a Baseline Security clearance (with the potential requirement for a higher‑level clearance) within six months to work with sensitive government and critical communications information.
  • Demonstrated hands‑on experience with telecommunications infrastructure and associated systems, including the ability to travel to PSN sites across NSW to support troubleshooting and project delivery activities.
  • Must possess or be able to obtain a White Card, RF EME Awareness, CPR and First Aid qualifications, 4WD certification, and a full unrestricted Driver Licence.
  • Willingness and ability to undertake frequent travel, including overnight stays, as required.
  • Demonstrated experience in mission‑critical telecommunications infrastructure will be highly regarded.
