Job summary

Daracon Group seeks an experienced Structures Project Engineer to join the Hunter Civil Team on a permanent basis in the Newcastle region, overseeing civil and mining infrastructure projects. The role is autonomous and offers a clear career progression within a diversified portfolio of works.

You should have a Civil Engineering degree, 4–5 years’ experience, and proven ability to manage design and construct projects, procurement, scheduling and safety on site.

Qualifications

  • Degree qualified Civil Engineer with professional accreditation.
  • 4–5 years of practical civil engineering experience.
  • Experience delivering TfNSW bridge works and meeting specs.
  • Procure and engage key suppliers; manage scheduling and deliveries on site.
  • Experience with formwork systems and ready-mix concrete; B80 training preferred.
  • Ability to coordinate major crane works and heavy lifting.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate engineering activities with Site Engineering and Supervisory Team to implement projects per plans, designs and specifications.
  • Manage subcontractors to achieve outcomes with effective time and resource management.
  • Develop and manage project-specific documentation.
  • Short-term construction program management and compliance.
  • Ensure quality documentation is captured and compliant.

Daracon are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Structures Project Engineer to join our Hunter Civil Team on a permanent basis. This role will be located in the Newcastle region, working across key projects within our operations, including civil and mining infrastructure projects. Key responsibilities
  • Working with our Site Engineering and Supervisory Team for the management of Civil Projects which means coordinating engineering activities to ensure that projects are implemented in accordance with plans, designs and specifications
  • Managing work and performance of subcontractors to achieve outcomes and utilise effective time management skills including sequencing of work and resource time management
  • Develop and manage project specific documentation
  • Short term construction program management and compliance
  • Ensuring quality documentation is captured and compliant
To be considered for this role you will
  • Ideally be a Degree Qualified Civil Engineer
  • Ideally have 4-5 years experience
  • Have overall proven engineering experience with the delivery of TfNSW bridge works and specifications
  • Be able to procure and engage with key suppliers in the management of scheduling and deliveries with the ability to work through constructability issues on site
  • Be experienced with the employment of different formwork systems, including temporary works
  • Be fully conversant with use of ready-mix concrete, including pumping, placement and curing – ideally holding B80 concrete grey card training.
  • Be able to engage, plan and execute major crane works and “heavy lifting”
  • Have sound organisational skills in order to be able to manage your time and plan effectively in a fast paced, diverse and changing environment
  • Have demonstrated ability to program and organise the worksHave the ability to follow budgets, track and report the costs of the works
  • Have exceptional communication skills, in particular your ability to negotiate and influence others
  • Have the ability to work with the team to meet key project milestones and deliverables
  • Have confidence in your decision making ability, problem solve and act accordingly
  • Have the ability to coach and mentor less experienced team members to assist in their development and transfer of your skills and expertise
  • Be a safety leader who is able to use your experience to uphold our safety culture and value
  • Ideally have proven experience on design and construct projects
