Job summary

SIMPEC is seeking a Project Engineer (SMP) to join our construction team at Alcoa Pinjarra to oversee and facilitate day to day engineering support on site. The role runs Monday - Friday for approximately 8+ months with potential to roll to other projects.

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering with 3+ years in mining construction, including structural steel erection, mechanical and piping installation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum 3 years+ experience in Mining Construction – involving structural steel erection, mechanical and piping installation.
• Experience in managing, raising, and responding to RFIs and TQs.
• Excellent time management skills and ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
• Ability to work autonomously within a collaborative team, be proactive and take initiative.
• Contractor side experience in SMP construction projects.
• Good understanding of construction estimating and cost controlling (First Principle estimating, Productivity Factor and Cost Code allocation).

Responsibilities

• Implementing, maintaining, coordinating, and expediting the procurement and construction elements for the designated work area.
• Identifying and resolving technical engineering issues and associated problems during the project duration.
• Provide technical support and guidance to the project team members.
• Creating work packs, test packs; estimation & site variations.
• Developing, preparing, scheduling, coordinating, and monitoring specifications for all equipment required for each stage of construction.
• Integrate the engineering team’s work with all other project departments (quality, commercial, HSE, supervision, employee relations and project controls).
• Perform overall quality control of the work (budget, schedule, plans, personnel’s performance) and report regularly on project status.

SIMPEC have been awarded the main procurement and construction contract for the residue filtration stage 2 project at Alcoa's Pinjarra Alumina Refinery, which will involve delivering infrastructure and services to increase processing capacity.

We're seeking a Project Engineer (SMP) to join our construction team at Alcoa Pinjarra to oversee and facilitate day to day engineering support. This role will be commencing asap and will be site-based Monday - Friday with a duration of approximately 8+ months and an opportunity to roll across to other projects thereafter.

About You:
