Job summary

Paragon Engineering is seeking a Project Engineer to bolster our Sydney team. You will liaise between design, geotechnical and structural groups and clients, define scope, track schedules and progress, and ensure deliverables meet regulatory standards.

You will prepare inspection reports, manage project documents, and monitor budgets, providing updates to stakeholders. The role requires a Civil/Structural Engineering degree, 4+ years of Australian design office or consultancy experience, and

Qualifications

  • 4+ years of experience in a Project Engineer or Co-ordinator role within Australia.
  • Civil/Structural Engineering degree recognised by Engineers Australia.
  • Strong communication skills for cross-team collaboration with clients and stakeholders.
  • Strong organisational and multitasking abilities to keep documentation current.

  • Liaise between internal design, geotechnical and structural teams and external stakeholders to define project scope and deliverables.
  • Coordinate project schedules, track progress, attend meetings, and provide milestone updates.
  • Inspect and assess infrastructure assets (bridges, wastewater facilities) for compliance with standards.
  • Prepare inspection/condition assessment reports, analyses, and recommendations.
  • Oversee project documents and share progress reports and technical documentation.
  • Monitor budgets and invoicing, reporting on financial performance to align with goals.
  • Assist with project compliance and quality assurance across disciplines.

Job description

Paragon is a privately owned specialist engineering consultancy firm operating throughout Australia, with a focus on the infrastructure and building sectors. Our expertise includes ground structures, bridges, associated infrastructure assets, foundations, shoring, and temporary structures.

We serve a diverse client base, including local authorities, infrastructure asset managers, and construction companies. Our range of services encompasses structural and geotechnical design, infrastructure asset condition assessment, project management, and structural and vibration monitoring.

Due to continued growth, we are searching for a Project Engineer to join our team.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Liaise between internal teams (design, geotechnical, structural) and external stakeholders to define project scope, objectives, and deliverables and ensure that client requirements are translated into designs.
  • Coordinate project schedules and track progress, ensuring adherence to delivery timelines as well as attending project meetings and providing updates on project milestones.
  • Conduct inspections and assessments of infrastructure assets, including bridges and wastewater facilities, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
  • Prepare detailed inspection/condition assessment reports, analysis, and recommendations based on findings.
  • Oversee control of all project documents, including sharing emails, progress reports and technical documentation.
  • Monitor project budgets and invoicing, reporting on financial performance to ensure alignment with project goals.
  • Assist with project compliance and quality assurance across various disciplines.
Minimum Requirements

To be considered for the role, you must have

  • 4+ years of experience as a Project Engineer or Co-ordinator within a design office or consultancy environment within Australia, preferably involving infrastructure assets and/or multidisciplinary projects. More experienced candidates are encouraged to apply.
  • A degree in Civil/Structural Engineering recognised by Engineers Australia.
  • Strong knowledge of basic design principles, especially in structural and/or geotechnical projects.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to facilitate effective communication among project teams, clients, and external stakeholders to ensure alignment and stakeholder satisfaction.
  • Strong organisational and switchtasking abilities, ensuring that all project documentation is up-to-date and deadlines are met.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to addressing technical challenges.
  • Strong technical reporting skills as well as knowledge of Engineering and Drafting software
  • Proficiency in MS Office, including Word, Excel, and project management software.
