Job summary

Contec Recruitment Pty Ltd is seeking a Project Engineer for a major South-East Queensland roads project in North Brisbane, mobilising to site in 2027. The role begins with a procurement focus and transitions into delivery and construction, covering earthworks, drainage and major road works.

The successful candidate will have 5–6 years post graduate civil engineering experience, including 4 years on main roads/TMR/council civils, and holds a Civil Engineering degree.

This well-established national civil contractor is a leading contractor who work within resources, local authorities and main roads projects across Australia. Led by a team of highly skilled professionals within the industry, this contactor is experienced across multiple disciplines including roads, earthworks, drainage and concrete structures.

The project consists of major roadworks and structures for TMR on a local South-east Queensland project. As Project Engineer you will help deliver this landmark project with an initial focus in procurement and then transition into delivery and construction. Scope of works include earthworks, drainage, services, and major road works. In this role, you will require exceptional planning and organisational skills, cost awareness and forecasting ability, preferably working on Qld Department of Main Roads contracts.

Reporting into the Senior Project Engineer, your responsibilities will include but not limited to:

• Planning, programming & resourcing
• Procurement of key subcontractors and suppliers
• Subcontractor management
• Liaising with clients, contractors & consultants
• Providing input into strategic planning
• Progress claims & variations
• Reporting on a weekly & monthly basis

The successful individual must have at least 5 – 6 years post graduate experience with 4 years on main roads / TMR / council project experience delivering civils on major road projects and have relevant Civil Engineering tertiary qualifications. Exceptional communication, planning, subcontractor management and interfacing with different disciplines across medium to large projects for a local Australian civil contractor is required.
