Job summary

Boral in Australia seeks a Project Director to lead the Marulan Mine Infrastructure Upgrade, a circa $100 million capital project to upgrade the crusher, stacker reclaimer and related systems, lifting output to 4 million tonnes per year.

Based on site for the life of the project, you will own end-to-end delivery, recruit and lead a discipline team across mechanical, electrical, civil and safety, and report progress to executive sponsors and the Board.

Qualifications

• 15+ years in major infrastructure or resources project delivery.
• Experience delivering crushing, screening or materials-handling plants.
• Brownfields construction in live production environments.
• Proven track record leading multidisciplinary teams.
• Experience structuring EPC/EPCM contracts $50M+ in value.
• Executive-level stakeholder management.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end delivery of the new crushing plant and its auxiliary infrastructure.
• Be the single point of accountability for scope, schedule, budget, quality and safety from FEED through construction, commissioning and handover.
• Build a project team from a standing start, recruiting and leading discipline leads across mechanical, electrical, civil and safety.
• Set the safety leadership tone for the project, with personal accountability for safety culture and performance.
• Manage interfaces with a live, operating mine, ensuring construction doesn't disrupt ongoing production.
• Report project status, risks and forecasts to executive sponsors, with visibility to the Board.
• Be based on site for the life of the project; a residential or weekly commute arrangement is expected.

About the role

The Marulan Mine Infrastructure Upgrade is a circa $100 million project to replace our primary crusher, stacker reclaimer and associated systems, lifting output to 4 million tonnes a year. It's critical to the long-term future of our Berrima Cement and Marulan Lime businesses.

You will:

• Own end-to-end delivery of the new crushing plant and its auxiliary infrastructure, including conveying, screening, stockpile management, water/dust suppression, HV power and rail line realignment.
• Be the single point of accountability for scope, schedule, budget, quality and safety, from FEED through construction, commissioning and handover to operations.
• Build a project team from a standing start, recruiting and leading discipline leads across mechanical, electrical, civil and safety.
• Set the safety leadership tone for the project, with personal accountability for safety culture and performance.
• Manage interfaces with our live, operating mine, ensuring construction doesn't disrupt ongoing production.
• Report project status, risks and forecasts to executive sponsors, with regular visibility to the EGM, CEO, CFO and Board.
• Be based on site for the life of the project; a residential or weekly commute arrangement is expected.

What you'll bring

• $100 million-plus capital project delivery as a Project Director or equivalent senior role, with at least 15 years in major infrastructure or resources-sector project delivery.
• Demonstrated experience delivering crushing, screening or comparable materials-handling plant, ideally in quarry, mining, cement or bulk materials industries.

Brownfields construction experience, delivering capital works within a live, production environment.

A proven track record leading multidisciplinary teams on projects of comparable scale.

• Experience structuring and negotiating EPC or EPCM contracts valued at $50 million or more, including contractor performance and claims management.

Strong project controls and financial management experience.

• Executive-level stakeholder management, with the ability to influence at board and CEO level.
• A degree in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical or Mining); postgraduate project management qualifications (PMP, MAIPM or equivalent) highly regarded.
