Job summary

Altrad Services APAC is seeking an experienced Cost Controller to support project controls for our West Projects in Kwinana. The role focuses on cost tracking, forecasting, and performance insights to enable commercial decision-making across fabrication projects.

You will collaborate with project leadership, planners, quantity surveyors, accountants, and site teams to deliver timely, data-driven insights and ensure cost control across multiple projects within a collaborative environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years in Cost Control or Project Controls.
• Experience on SMP, heavy industrial, fabrication, construction, resources or major infrastructure projects.
• Strong understanding of Cost Control, CTC forecasting, productivity analysis, budgeting and variance reporting, EVM desirable.
• Advanced Excel and Power BI or similar BI platforms.
• Experience with ERP/cost management systems such as Pronto, SAP, JDE, Oracle, or similar.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain project cost trackers aligned to WBS structures and cost codes.
• Monitor commitments, actual costs, labour hours, plant utilisation, and project expenditure.
• Prepare weekly cost and productivity reports and monthly commercial packs.
• Develop FCAC and CTC forecasts and monitor revenue, margin, and profitability.
• Consolidate reporting across fabrication projects and provide business unit performance visibility.
• Support month-end reporting, review commitments and accruals, and reconcile project data with ERP.

About the Opportunity

An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Cost Controller to join our Projects West business based in our Kwinana facility. Reporting to the Fabrication Manager with functional support from the Head of Project Controls, you will play a critical role in providing the cost, productivity, forecasting, and performance insights that enable effective commercial decision-making across our fabrication projects.

Working within a collaborative project environment, you will transform project data into meaningful business intelligence, ensuring project leaders have accurate information to manage performance, control costs, identify risks, and maximise commercial outcomes.

You will work closely with project leadership, planners, quantity surveyors, accountants, and site teams, you will provide timely insights that drive informed decision-making and project success.

Key Responsibilities include:

Cost Control & Forecasting

• Develop, maintain, and manage the project cost trackers aligned to WBS structures and cost codes.
• Monitor commitments, actual costs, labour hours, plant utilisation, and project expenditure.
• Prepare weekly cost and productivity reports and monthly commercial reporting packs.
• Develop and maintain Forecast Cost at Completion (FCAC) and Cost to Complete (CTC) forecasts.
• Monitor project revenue, margin performance, and profitability across fabrication contracts.
• Support revenue recognition, commercial reporting, and project performance reviews.
• Raise purchase requisitions and maintain project cost coding structures.

Productivity & Performance Analysis

• Monitor labour productivity, cost productivity, and plant utilisation metrics.
• Analyse trends, identify emerging risks, and provide recommendations for performance improvement.
• Deliver meaningful insights into project performance drivers and cost efficiencies.
• Support the project team with data-driven reporting and decision-making.

Project Controls Integration

• Work closely with the Planners to align cost, schedule, and physical progress data.
• Support Earned Value Management (EVM) reporting and analysis.
• Monitor CPI, SPI, and productivity performance indicators.
• Identify and communicate variances impacting project delivery and commercial outcomes.

Reporting & Data Integrity

• Consolidate reporting across fabrication projects and sustaining works to provide business unit performance visibility, including revenue, cost, margin, work-in-hand and workload forecasts.
• Work closely with Finance to support month-end reporting, review commitments and accruals, reconcile project and financial data, and ensure alignment between ERP and project reporting systems.
• Validate project information against timesheets, rosters, plant utilisation records, ERP systems, and site reporting.
• Maintain a high standard of data accuracy, completeness, and consistency.
• Develop dashboards and reporting tools to improve project visibility and performance tracking.
• Support weekly operational reviews and monthly financial reviews.

Commercial Support

• Assist with client payment claims and supporting documentation.
• Partner with project and fabrication teams to identify risks, opportunities, and forecast movements.
• Provide timely commercial insights to support strategic decisions.

About You

You are a highly capable Project Controls professional with strong commercial acumen and a passion for delivering accurate, insightful reporting that supports successful project outcomes.

To be successful, you will bring:

• Minimum 5 years' experience in Cost Control or Project Controls roles.
• Experience working on SMP, heavy industrial, fabrication, construction, resources, or major infrastructure projects.
• Strong understanding of; Cost Control principles, Cost to Complete (CTC) forecasting, Productivity analysis, Budgeting and variance reporting, Earned Value Management (desirable)
• Advanced Excel skills and experience using Power BI or similar business intelligence platforms.
• Experience with ERP and cost management systems such as Pronto, SAP, JDE, Oracle, or similar.
• Experience in self-perform labour and plant-intensive project environments.
• Qualifications in Quantity Surveying, Engineering, or a related discipline will be highly regarded.
