Job summary

Verbrec is seeking a motivated Project Controller to join our Adelaide-based team and help implement robust project management practices. You will work with project managers and engineers to set up projects, monitor budgets and manage change control, invoicing, and reporting.

You will contribute to continuous improvement of project controls, using MS Excel and Word to prepare analyses and presentations for stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated ability to learn, assess problems and identify solutions.
  • Strong communication with stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in data manipulation and reporting using MS Excel/Word.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with maintenance of project management systems, tools and procedures.
  • Support project managers with project setup, budget allocation, resourcing and change control processes.
  • Undertake project invoicing in consultation with project managers.
  • Track variations, purchase orders, invoices and project expenditure for cost control.
  • Provide regular and accurate reports to project managers and stakeholders.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of project controls processes and reporting tools.

You will be joining a motivated and high performing team. Based in our new Adelaide office and reporting to the Operations Lead, the Project Controller works closely with our Project Managers & Engineers to implement sensible, honest and robust Project Management methodology to project planning, execution, reporting and change control, in line with Client and Business stakeholder expectations. This is a critical role in a growing business where continuous improvement and innovative ideas are encouraged and acted on.

As the Project Controller, you will
  • Assist with maintenance of the business’ Project Management systems, tools & procedures
  • Support Project Managers with project set-up, budget allocation, resourcing and change control processes.
  • Undertake project invoicing in consultation with Project Managers
  • Track variations, purchase orders, invoices and project expenditure to ensure accurate cost control.
  • Provide regular and accurate reports to Project Managers, the Operations Lead, and other internal & external business stakeholders
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of project controls processes, systems and reporting tools.
The Person

You will be a highly self-motivated individual, ideally with strong commercial experience in a Project Delivery environment (ideally Engineering & Design) and bring to the role:

  • An ability to learn, assess problems, and identify potential solutions
  • Previous experience in a financial role desirable but not mandatory
  • An aptitude with computers and tools (particularly data manipulation and interrogation) to operate quickly and efficiently
  • An ability to quickly learn new software, or adapt existing software to meet Project and Business needs
  • Strong skills with MS Excel and MS Word,
  • Experience with WorkDay is desirable
  • A strong moral compass, as evidenced by your honesty, care and respect for others and willingness to share and learn
  • An ability to clearly communicate with stakeholders; being able to present information in a suitable format depending on the audience
