Downer's Energy & Utilities division is seeking a Project Accountant to join our Milton, Brisbane team. This role offers exposure to high-profile power projects and a clear pathway for career growth within a Tier 1 ASX listed organisation.

We are seeking a Project Accountant to join our Energy & Utilities - Power Projects team, based in Milton, Brisbane. Reporting to the Senior Project Accountant, this full-time role is suited to finance professionals with 2-3 years' experience looking to step into a role with greater responsibility and exposure to large-scale projects.

You will work closely with project and operational teams, providing financial analysis and reporting that supports the successful delivery of critical power projects. This is a fantastic opportunity to further develop your accounting expertise while building your career with a market-leading organisation.

What You'll Do
  • Manage month-end reporting, project valuations, forecasting, and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Provide analysis on salaries, wages, and overheads to support project profitability.
  • Contribute to working capital management, including WIP, billings, and debtor reviews.
  • Partner with project teams to ensure financial controls are in place and adhered to.
  • Support new contract set-up, adhoc analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives.

What We're Looking For
  • A tertiary qualification in Finance, Accounting, or Commerce.
  • 2-3 years' experience in project accounting, management accounting, or a similar finance role.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills.
  • A proactive mindset with the ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines.
  • CA/CPA accreditation in progress (or willingness to obtain) is highly desirable.
