OGM Engineering is a dynamic, Australian-owned engineering and fabrication company based in Ballarat. We are seeking a Project Accountant to join our Ballarat Head Office on a full-time basis, reporting to the CFO, and supporting project costing, monitoring and reporting across multiple entities.

The role involves managing fixed assets, month-end processes, and ensuring accurate financial insights for major national projects.

Qualifications

• A degree in Accounting or Finance.
• Strong knowledge of job costing and work-in-progress (WIP) management.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Excellent attention to detail with a commitment to delivering high-quality work.

Responsibilities

• Setup budget tracking files for new projects, updating revenue/costs against budgets weekly, updating forecasts as the project progresses.
• Monitor actual spend vs budget, analyse cost variances and provide insights to project operations team.
• Prepare supporting documentation and issue invoices for monthly project progress claims and spare parts orders.
• Monitor WIP and process accrual journals.
• Monthly stock reconciliations and COGS journals, working with operations team to resolve issues.
• Maintain the company fixed asset registers, conducting regular asset audits and ensuring all fixed asset transactions are processed monthly.
• Identify areas for improvement in current processes and assist with the development of new systems as we grow our footprint and product offering.
• Assist the wider finance function as required to meet the needs of the business

The Position:

We are seeking an enthusiastic Project Accountant to join our team at our Ballarat Head Office on a full-time basis. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, this role plays a key part in supporting the financial operations of the business through accurate project costing, monitoring, and reporting. The position also involves managing fixed assets and assisting with month-end accounting processes across multiple entities.

Employment: Permanent Full-Time Monday to Friday 8am start (38 hrs)

Part-Time option (min. 30hrs) would be considered for the right candidate

Key Responsibilities

About You

You will bring proven experience in a similar role, along with:

• A degree in Accounting or Finance
• Strong knowledge of job costing and work-in-progress (WIP) management
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
• Excellent attention to detail with a commitment to delivering high-quality work
• A continuous improvement mindset, with the confidence to challenge and enhance existing systems and processes
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across operational teams
• Experience within a manufacturing or construction environment will be highly regarded
