Job summary

TEKsystems, Inc. is partnering with a Federal Government organisation to recruit a Senior Project Officer/Project Coordinator for a 12-month contract in Sydney. Hybrid work arrangement, APS6 level, ASAP start, and extension options.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience in a Senior Project Officer, Project Coordinator, PMO Analyst, or Project Support role.
  • Experience supporting large-scale ICT, digital transformation, or business change programs.
  • Strong understanding of project management frameworks, methodologies, and governance processes.
  • Proven experience preparing project reports, status updates, committee papers, and governance documentation.
  • Experience managing project schedules, milestones, risks, dependencies, issues, and actions.
  • Strong project financial tracking, reporting, and administration capabilities.
  • Experience supporting PMO functions, portfolio reporting, and program coordination activities.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively across multiple projects.
  • Experience engaging with senior stakeholders and executive governance forums.
  • Strong analytical and organisational skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Experience within Federal Government environments is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Support Senior Project Managers in the delivery of complex programs and projects.
  • Monitor, track, and report on project deliverables, milestones, timelines, costs, and quality metrics.
  • Prepare project status reports, dashboards, and ad-hoc reporting artefacts.

  • Develop, maintain, and monitor project schedules and delivery plans.

  • Coordinate project documentation, records management, and reporting activities.
  • Prepare briefing papers and supporting documentation for governance committees and advisory groups.
  • Facilitate communication and collaboration across project teams and stakeholders.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and project management best practices.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

About the Role

We are seeking experienced Senior Project Officers to provide high-level project and PMO support across complex technology and business transformation programs. Working closely with Program Directors, Program Managers, Senior Project Managers, and project delivery teams, you will support end-to-end project governance, reporting, risk management, planning, and coordination activities. This role requires excellent stakeholder management skills, strong organisational capabilities, and the ability to work autonomously while contributing to successful program outcomes. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring projects are delivered within agreed timelines, budgets, quality standards, and governance frameworks.

Key Accountabilities and Outcomes

  • Stakeholder Engagement, Committee Support & Process Improvement – Experience supporting governance committees, facilitating stakeholder engagement, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Communication Skills – Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the preparation of executive-level reports and briefings.
  • Organisation & Planning – Strong time management skills with the ability to coordinate multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Problem Solving – Ability to identify issues, assess impacts, and support practical solutions.
  • Collaboration – Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
Preferred Qualifications

Tertiary qualifications in Project Management, Business, Information Technology, or a related discipline.

  • Certification in PRINCE2, Agile, PMBOK, MSP, or equivalent project management methodologies.
  • Experience supporting large-scale government transformation programs.
  • Experience working within PMO or portfolio management environments.
  • Knowledge of project governance frameworks and program delivery practices.
Additional Requirements
  • Australian Citizenship required.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Security Clearance.
  • 37.5 hours per week.
