Job summary

Viridian Glass Pty Ltd in Geelong is seeking an experienced Production Supervisor for the Day Shift to lead the on-site manufacturing team, plan production schedules, and ensure timely delivery of quality glass products.

Reporting to Operations Manager Geelong, you will drive safety, budgeting, and continuous improvement initiatives using Lean practices and ERP systems, mentoring Team Leaders, and coordinating with Maintenance, Planning, and Logistics.

Qualifications

• 5–10 years of manufacturing or production experience.
• 3–5 years in a supervisory or management role within production.
• Experience managing safety and environmental practices.
• Strong written and verbal communication; able to engage stakeholders.
• Hands-on approach with analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Experience with Lean or similar methods; budgeting and resource allocation.
• Experience with manufacturing equipment and ERP systems.
• Knowledge of the glass industry is desirable but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Provide direction and support to the day shift production team and Team Leaders, setting clear expectations and developing capability.
• Manage production budgets, costs and inventory to ensure cost-effective delivery.
• Ensure employees are trained and competent to operate safely and effectively.
• Develop production schedules and coordinate rosters, workloads and resources with cross-functional teams.
• Lead process and quality improvement projects using KPIs to boost productivity and reduce waste.
• Monitor product quality and report operational performance across shifts and departments.

• Drive safety and environmental practices within an industrial environment.

Reporting to the Operations Manager - Geelong, you will plan, coordinate and lead safe, effective and efficient production, ensuring quality products are delivered on time and within budget.

Responsibilities:

• Provide direction & support to the day shift production team and Team Leaders, setting clear expectations, developing capability and managing performance to ensure targets and KPIs are achieved.
• Manage production budgets, costs and inventory to ensure delivery is met in the most cost-effective manner.
• Ensure employees are trained and competent to safely and effectively run operations and applying safe systems of work.
• Develop production schedules and coordinate rosters, workloads and resources, working with Maintenance, Planning, Supply Chain and Logistics teams to minimise downtime and meet customer demand.
• Develop and implement process and quality improvement projects, using production data and KPIs to improve productivity, reduce waste and costs, and enhance the customer experience.
• Monitor product quality and resolve quality issues, report operational performance and support clear communication across shifts and departments.
• Contribute to and collaborate with the broader Geelong management team.
• Leads by example to build and strengthen teams.
• Holds 5-10 years of manufacturing or production experience, ideally including 3-5 years in a supervisory or management role within production.
• Has experience managing safety and environmental practices within an industrial environment, with knowledge of relevant compliance standards.
• Can demonstrate success in managing and leading teams, including developing Team Leaders and managing employee performance and attendance.
• Has strong written & verbal communication skills and the ability to engage and influence stakeholders across various levels.
• Ideally has knowledge of the glass industry (desirable but not essential).
• Has a hands- on approach, strong analytical and problem solving skills, mechanical aptitude and the ability to work with manufacturing equipment and ERP systems.
• Has proven experience delivering process improvements and production projects, with knowledge of Lean or similar methods, quality control, budgeting and resource allocation.
