Job summary

CSR Limited is seeking a Production Supervisor for our Somersby manufacturing facility. You will lead Team Leaders and production staff across a 24/7 operation, driving safety, performance, quality and continuous improvement on the shop floor.

You will coach teams, solve problems, and deliver results in a hands-on leadership role. The position requires flexibility to work across rotating shifts and support weekend shutdowns when required.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience leading teams in a manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to coach and develop frontline teams.
  • Strong focus on safety, compliance, and quality.
  • Experience driving Lean and continuous improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop Team Leaders and production staff to drive engagement and performance.
  • Champion a Zero Harm culture and ensure policy compliance.
  • Facilitate production meetings, toolbox talks, and site communications.
  • Drive Lean manufacturing principles, 5S, and CI across the site.
  • Monitor KPIs and drive improvements in efficiency, quality, and productivity.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to maximise plant performance.
  • Support production planning, scheduling, and resource allocation.
  • Manage consumables, contractors, and supplier relationships.
  • Maintain product specs, process controls, and documentation.
  • Lead problem-solving to minimise downtime and improve outcomes.
  • Support cultural change and employee development programs.

About the Role

Reporting to the Production Manager, you will lead a team of Team Leaders and production employees across one of Australia's leading building products manufacturing facilities. You will be responsible for driving safety, performance, quality, and continuous improvement while developing and supporting high-performing teams across our 24/7 production environment.

This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll spend most of your time on the production floor, coaching teams, solving problems, and delivering results.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead, coach, and develop Team Leaders and production teams to drive engagement, accountability, and performance.
  • Champion CSR's Never Walk Past Zero Harm culture and ensure compliance with all safety policies and procedures.
  • Facilitate production meetings, toolbox talks, and site communication initiatives.
  • Drive Lean Manufacturing principles, 5S initiatives, and continuous improvement activities across the site.
  • Monitor production KPIs and performance metrics, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, quality, and productivity.
  • Coordinate production activities with Customer Service, Inventory, Maintenance, and Operations teams to maximise plant performance.
  • Support production planning, scheduling, and resource allocation to meet customer demand.
  • Manage consumables, stocktakes, contractors, and supplier relationships.
  • Develop and maintain product specifications, process controls, and operational documentation.
  • Lead problem-solving initiatives to minimise downtime and optimise production outcomes.
  • Support site-wide cultural change initiatives and employee development programs.
What you'll bring
  • Previous experience as a Production Supervisor, Manufacturing Supervisor, Shift Supervisor, or similar leadership role.
  • Proven experience leading teams in a manufacturing, processing, industrial, or production environment.
  • Strong people leadership skills, including coaching, performance management, conflict resolution, and employee engagement.
  • Demonstrated commitment to workplace safety and operational compliance.
  • Experience working within a continuous improvement or Lean Manufacturing environment.
  • Strong organisational, planning, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to influence stakeholders across operations, maintenance, and support functions.
  • Experience with SAP or similar ERP systems will be highly regarded.
  • Exposure to industrial relations and unionised workforces is advantageous.
