Job summary

Delta Power & Energy (Vales Point) Pty Ltd seeks Production Operators for its coal-fired Vales Point Power Station. You will operate and monitor boilers, turbines and related equipment to ensure safe, efficient generation and compliance with maintenance schedules.

Applicants should hold Certificate III/IV in ESI Generation - Operations, and BA/TO high-risk licences, with experience in heavy industry. A strong safety culture and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• Certificate III or IV in ESI Generation - Operations (or equivalent qualification).
• High Risk Licences in Boiler Advanced (BA) and Turbine Operations (TO) or equivalent.
• Experience in coal-fired/thermal power generation.
• Trade qualification or Associate Diploma in Engineering or related discipline highly regarded.

Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor boilers, turbines, generators and plant systems to maintain safe production.
• Perform routine operational checks and maintenance activities on plant and equipment.
• Monitor plant performance, identify faults and report for corrective action.
• Respond to alarms and abnormal conditions, escalate as needed.
• Isolate, test and restore plant equipment to enable maintenance access.
• Participate in incident investigations and root cause analysis.

This role involves the safe and efficient operation of boilers, turbines, generators and associated plant systems within a coal-fired generation environment.

What You'll Do:

• Operating and monitoring plant and equipment to maintain safe, efficient production.
• Conducting routine operational checks and performing routine and defect maintenance activities on plant and equipment.
• Monitoring plant performance, identifying faults or potential issues and reporting them through maintenance management systems to facilitate timely corrective action.
• Responding to plant alarms and abnormal operating conditions, escalating issues to the appropriate operational personnel and supporting timely resolution.
• Isolate, test and restore plant equipment to ensure safe access for maintenance and asset management teams.
• Participating in incident investigations, including contributing to root cause analysis and the development of corrective actions.
• Operating standby plant and protection equipment in accordance with preventative maintenance programs.
• Maintaining accurate operational and maintenance records, logs and reports.
• Identifying, reporting and helping to minimise environmental hazards and incidents.
• Applying safe work practices, procedures and risk assessments, including the development and use of Task Based Risk Assessments (TBRAs).
• Participating in training and development activities to maintain and enhance operational skills and competencies.

What You'll Bring:

You are a safety focused and proactive with a strong technical background and a commitment to operational excellence.

Ideally, you will have:

• Certificate III or IV in ESI Generation - Operations (or equivalent qualification).
• High Risk Licences in Boiler Advanced (BA) and Turbine Operations (TO) or equivalent.
• Previous experience in operations in a coal-fired or thermal power generation environment.
• A trade qualification, Certificate level qualification, or equivalent industry experience. An Associate Diploma in Engineering or a related discipline will be highly regarded.
• Demonstrated experience in a technical, trade, operations or engineering role, preferably within a power generation, heavy industrial, manufacturing, mining or process plant environment.
• A sound understanding of workplace health and safety requirements, risk management processes and environmental compliance obligations.
• The ability to interpret and apply operational procedures, policies and standards to ensure safe and efficient plant operation.
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to identify issues and contribute to practical solutions.
• A commitment to continuous learning, personal development and maintaining technical competency.
