Job description

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Production Manager to join the Swanson Industries team in Mackay.

In this role you will lead the day-to-day operations of our Estimation and Service admin function, managing production planning, job quotation and improving the coordination and end-to-end administration of job processing to ensure customer requirements are delivered efficiently and on time.

You will play a key role in driving operational performance while supporting the continued growth of Swanson’s hydraulic cylinder manufacturing and repair services.

This role would suit a candidate with extensive experience in hydraulics and machining, or a trade-qualified Fitter/Machinist with leadership experience looking to move to an office-based role.

You will take leadership of the estimation & service admin functions, including job setup, quote preparation and job completion. The role will work closely with the Workshop Supervisor to ensure committed deadlines are adhered to and the workshop has all required information to achieve targets.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the estimation and service admin function to deliver efficient and high-quality outcomes.
• Plan and coordinate production schedules and workflow.
• Oversee job quoting & WIP management.
• Work closely with both the internal sales team and workshop team to support operational delivery.
• Drive continuous improvement, quality outcomes and strong safety practices.

About You

• Experience leading teams within manufacturing, heavy industry, hydraulics, mining services or engineering environments.
• Trade qualification (Fitter/Machinist or similar) highly regarded.
• Strong leadership and people management capability
• Ability to read and interpret technical specifications and engineering drawings.
• Experience planning workflow and managing production schedules.
• Highly organised and able to identify production bottlenecks from the order intake.
• Strong commercial awareness and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication and organisational skills
