Job summary

Programmed is seeking a Production Manager for a FMCG operation in Griffith, NSW. The role leads 2 Supervisors and 15–20 staff, driving safety, quality and efficiency across the site.

You’ll manage day-to-day production, plan for peak periods, and drive continuous improvement while sustaining food safety and environmental standards. Previous dairy/process manufacturing experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Production Manager or similar in FMCG/dairy environments.
• Strong leadership and people management skills.
• Proven ability to manage permanent and casual workforces.
• Knowledge of production planning, KPIs and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day production operations and meet targets.
• Lead, coach and develop Production Supervisors and staff.
• Plan workforce requirements during peak periods (mid-June to mid-October).
• Monitor performance, downtime, waste, efficiency and output.
• Oversee evaporator and drying processes and related costs.
• Collaborate with Maintenance and Quality teams to resolve issues.

An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Production Manager to join a well-established FMCG manufacturing operation in Griffith, NSW.

Reporting directly to the Site Manager, you will take responsibility for day-to-day production operations, leading a team and driving performance across safety, quality, productivity, efficiency and continuous improvement.

This is a hands-on leadership role suited to an experienced Production Manager, Manufacturing Manager, Production Superintendent or Senior Production Supervisor looking to take the next step in their career.

About the Role

You will oversee production operations across the site, ensuring production plans and customer requirements are delivered safely, efficiently and to the required quality standards.

You will lead 2 Production Supervisors and approximately 15–20 permanent production employees, with additional casual employees engaged during the peak production period.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Managing day-to-day production operations and ensuring production targets are achieved

• Leading, coaching and developing Production Supervisors and production employees

• Planning workforce requirements during the peak production period from approximately mid-June to mid-October

• Monitoring production performance, downtime, waste, efficiency and output

• Overseeing evaporator and drying processes

• Managing production costs and identifying opportunities to improve productivity and reduce waste

• Working closely with Maintenance and Quality teams to resolve operational issues and improve plant performance

• Driving continuous improvement initiatives across safety, quality, cost and efficiency

• Maintaining strong food safety, quality, environmental and workplace health and safety standards

• Supporting the introduction of new products, processes and technologies

• Taking ownership of team performance, accountability and development

About You

To be successful, you will ideally have:

• Previous experience as a Production Manager, Manufacturing Manager, Production Superintendent or Senior Production Supervisor

• Experience within dairy, FMCG, food, beverage or process manufacturing

• Strong experience leading production teams and supervisors

• Experience managing both permanent and casual workforces

• Strong knowledge of production planning, KPIs and continuous improvement

• Experience with evaporator and drying processes will be highly regarded

• Strong understanding of food safety, quality and WHS requirements

• Excellent communication, leadership and problem-solving skills

• A practical, hands-on approach to production management

Candidates from wine manufacturing or other process manufacturing environments will also be considered where they can demonstrate relevant transferable experience.

A degree in Engineering, Food Science, Technology or a related discipline is preferred; however, equivalent industry experience will be considered.
