Job summary

Austal is seeking a Production Engineer to join its Engineering Program Delivery team in Western Australia. The role bridges engineering designs with Fitout manufacturing processes, supporting production teams to meet quality, cost and schedule objectives.

You will review drawings, develop practical production solutions, and identify opportunities for process automation. The ideal candidate has extensive shipbuilding experience and a track record in delivering complex fabrication programs within

Qualifications

• Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering or equivalent qualification.
• 10+ years trade qualified experience in shipbuilding/defence/heavy manufacturing.
• Strong knowledge of interior fitout shipbuilding, construction practices.
• Ability to review drawings and specifications to resolve production issues.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and CAD-based software.

The Production Engineerwithin Austal’s Engineering Program Delivery team plays a key role ensuring the successful delivery of naval and commercial shipbuilding programs. The position is responsible for bridging engineering designs with Fitout manufacturing processes, supporting production teams to meet quality, cost, and schedule objectives, and ensuring engineering solutions are practical, efficient, and compliant with regulatory and safety standards.

You’ll Need

• Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering or equivalent and/or;
• Demonstrated 10+ years trade qualified, experience in production trade engineering within shipbuilding, defence, heavy manufacturing, or similar industry
• Strong knowledge of Interior Fitout ship building / Construction Industry practices, assembly, and manufacturing processes
• Ability to review technical drawings and specifications to identify and resolve production related issues
• Competent using Microsoft Office and CAD based software
