Description du poste

  • Ways of working: 2 days a week in the office
  • Employment: Permanent, full-time
  • Customers: Lenders, insurers and agri-businesses across Australia and New Zealand
The story

DAS (Digital Agriculture Services) is a Melbourne technology company that turns geospatial data into decisions about rural land.

Its location intelligence products help banks, insurers and agri-enterprise businesses understand agricultural risk. That helps them assess a property, price a policy or approve a loan faster and with more confidence than they could before.

It's a sector technology has largely overlooked. The customers are serious: long procurement cycles, real compliance requirements and no tolerance for software that doesn't work. That makes it demanding work, and it means the product matters when it lands.

The role

Product Manager. It sits under the Head of Product and alongside the Head of Engineering and a team of six engineers and a QA engineer.

The Head of Product sets direction and makes the final call on what gets built. You own everything underneath that: how work gets broken down, what goes into each enhancement, what "done" looks like and whether what ships is right. You'll be talking with engineers every day about how things get built and whether they meet what customers need.

That means owning the backlog, writing tickets with clear context and acceptance criteria, and breaking features into pieces that ship rather than big blocks that stall. There is no PO or BA.

It also means thinking past the current sprint and building the case for what comes next. You'll work with QA on release readiness, run releases and explain what each one delivers to customers and the wider business.

You'll be in front of customers, too. You'll join solutioning conversations, hear what's working and what isn't, and bring it back into the backlog. When something ships, you'll show customers what it does and why it's worth using. Customer Success and the Commercial team will often be in the room, but the product view is yours.

A Delivery Manager looks after customer commitments and contracts, so your focus stays on the work itself: what gets built, in what order and to what standard. You'll also work with the Head of Data on bringing in new datasets and you'll help shape how AI and machine learning show up in the product, keeping it grounded in what engineering can realistically build.

You won't manage anyone, but you'll need to work well with everyone.

Who you are

You've worked as a Product Manager directly with an engineering team, close to the detail of how things get built. You've delivered software for enterprise clients. Banking, insurance or financial services experience will really count here.

You're comfortable with technical detail. You don't need to know how to cut code, but you can follow conversations about APIs, data models and system design and hold your own in them. Data-heavy products don't faze you. Geospatial experience is a bonus but certainly not a requirement.

You call risk early and back it with evidence. You can weigh what a piece of work is worth against what it costs to build, explain the trade-off, and communicate when a plan won't hold.

Nobody will be checking your queue. You spot the gaps, chase the answers you need and move things forward without waiting to be asked. And you're genuinely interested in how AI and machine learning apply to real products, or you've already shipped them.

Why this role?

The team is small, so you'll see the whole product rather than one slice of it. You'll work directly with the Head of Product, with a short path between a decision and the work starting.

What you ship changes how lenders and insurers make decisions about rural land, and you'll see that impact quickly. Geospatial data for rural finance is a niche few people have worked in. The problems are specific and the technology is, I think, REALLY interesting.
