Job summary

Samsung C&T Corporation Australia is seeking an experienced Procurement Manager for Energy projects in Melbourne. You will lead end-to-end procurement, expediting, and logistics, coordinating with head office and IPO to meet project plans and costs.

Ideal candidates have 8+ years in HV/MV equipment procurement, strong negotiation skills, and experience on projects over $300m. ERP systems expertise is required and a focus on cost control.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 8+ years in procurement and expediting of high/medium voltage equipment.
• Experience leading procurement on large-scale projects over $300m.
• Strong negotiation and contract management skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead procurement process for EPC projects with excellence in procurement and expediting.
• Manage day-to-day activities to align with delivery commitments and project plans.
• Coordinate with head office, IPO and other stakeholders.
• Report procurement progress, costs, expediting status and vendor documents to management.
• Identify suppliers/sub-contractors based on project requirements.
• Evaluate suppliers through RFT and bidding processes.
• Monitor performance and address issues with suppliers.
• Collaborate with development and engineering teams on procurement needs.
• Coordinate with Engineering for major equipment specifications.
• Support negotiation with suppliers for favourable terms.
• Assist cost engineering to ensure cost compliance.
• Support estimating team with price indications from procurement data.
• Issue purchase orders and sub-contracts per project requirements.
• Resolve procurement or delivery delays and conduct expediting activities.
• Ensure compliance with procurement laws and policies.

To strengthen our team, and in pursuit of new business opportunities, we are seeking an experienced Procurement Manager for Energy projects in Melbourne.

About the Role

• Play a lead role in undertaking procurement process for EPC project with excellence in all procurement buying & expediting, logistics, Supplier Quality Surveillance (SQS) disciplines
• Manage the day-to-day activities of the project align with delivery commitments and project plans
• Coordinate with relevant internal stakeholders including head office, International Procurement Office (IPO) and etc
• Report to management including head office by utilising system to oversee cost control, procurement progress, expediting status, logistics, inspection, test status and vendor document status
• Identify potential suppliers and sub-contractors based on project requirements and specifications
• Evaluate and select suppliers and subcontractors through RFT and bidding process
• Monitor supplier and sub-contractor performance, addressing any issues that may arise
• Collaborate with internal development team to identify procurement needs by providing input on procurement requirements and specifications during the development phase
• Coordinate with Engineering team for major equipment specifications
• Support the negotiation process with selected suppliers and sub-contractors for favourable terms
• Collaborate with the cost engineering team to ensure compliance with project cost requirements
• Support the estimating team in preparing cost plans by providing price indications from procurement database
• Review project requirements and technical specifications to identify procurement needs
• Issue purchase orders and sub-contracts in accordance with project requirements
• Resolve any issues or delays related to procurement or delivery of materials and services
• Conduct regular expediting activities to track delivery status and resolve any delays or issues
• Ensure compliance with relevant procurement laws, regulations, and policies
• Liaison with clients to understand their procurement requirements

About You

• Tertiary qualification in Electrical Engineering or related field
• Proven understanding of relevant standard and legislation
• Minimum 8 years of experience in procurement and expediting of high voltage and medium voltage equipment i.e. step up transformer, switchgear, SCADA
• Proven experience of leading procurement processes and expediting activities
• Experience from large-scale projects over $300m
• Working knowledge of technical specification of major electrical equipment required for Transmission Line and Gas projects
• Proficient in procurement software and tools (e.g. ERP systems)
• Excellent negotiation and contract management skills
• Knowledge of project management and cost control principles
• Advanced attention to detail and accuracy
