Job summary

Motion is seeking a skilled Process & Oxy Valve Technician for its Cryogenic Division in Unanderra. This permanent, workshop-based role runs 40 hours per week, 7:00am–3:30pm, with monthly RDO and overtime as needed.

You will repair and test process/oxygen/cryogenic valves, perform mechanical fitting, and ensure high-quality outcomes. You must have a relevant mechanical trade qualification and experience in valve repair or similar workshop roles, with a strong safety mindset and the ability to

Qualifications

• A relevant mechanical trade qualification (e.g., Fitter/Turner/Machinist) is required.
• Experience in mechanical fitting, valve repair or industrial workshop work is essential.
• Demonstrated safety-first approach and quality workmanship.
• Ability to follow technical procedures and standards; strong attention to detail.
• Effective communication and customer-service skills; valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Repair, overhaul and test process, oxygen and cryogenic valves and actuators.
• Perform mechanical fitting tasks: stripping, cleaning, repairing, painting, packaging and dispatching.
• Conduct in-process inspections to ensure quality and contractual compliance.
• Maintain accurate job documentation, timesheets and progress records.
• Inspect goods, coordinate deliveries and manage returns as required.
• Keep tools and workshop equipment in safe, serviceable condition.
• Follow workshop, safety, environmental and quality procedures consistently.
• Support operations and undertake additional duties as required.

About the role

We are seeking a skilled and safety-focused Process & Oxy Valve Technician for our Cryogenic Division to join our Unanderra team. This permanent workshop-based role in Unanderra runs a 40‑hour week, 7:00am–3:30pm, with monthly RDO. Remuneration is market‑aligned, with bonuses and annual salary review; overtime is available in line with business requirements. In this hands‑on role, you will complete mechanical fitting, repair and testing work on process, oxygen and associated valve equipment. You will contribute to safe, efficient and high‑quality workshop operations, ensuring customer equipment is repaired and returned to the required technical and quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Repair, overhaul and test process, oxygen and cryogenic‑related valves and actuators.
• Complete mechanical fitting tasks including stripping, cleaning, assessing, repairing, painting, packaging and dispatching equipment.
• Carry out in‑process inspections to confirm finished work meets required quality and contractual standards.
• Maintain accurate job documentation, timesheets and records of work progress, variations and delays.
• Inspect incoming and outgoing goods, coordinate deliveries and process returns where required.
• Maintain tools, workshop equipment and measuring instruments in safe and serviceable condition.
• Follow workshop, customer, safety, environmental and quality procedures at all times.
• Support workshop operations and undertake additional duties as required.

About you

• A relevant mechanical trade qualification, such as Fitter, Turner and Machinist, Light Vehicle Mechanic or Plant Mechanic.
• Experience in a similar mechanical fitting, valve‑repair or industrial workshop role.
• Strong mechanical problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.
• A safety‑first mindset and commitment to quality workmanship.
• The ability to follow technical procedures, specifications and applicable standards.
• Effective communication and customer‑service skills.
• A current and valid driver’s license.
• The ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team.
• Flexibility to work overtime and attend local customer sites when required.
