Job summary

Hexite is seeking a Process Engineer to join our Ballarat pilot-to-commercial scale effort. Flexible, part-time to start, full-time for the right candidate, with equity potential and a direct line to the technical co-founders.

You will support process optimisation and characterisation testing, work hands-on in a lab/pilot environment, and help design our first commercial-scale facility as we scale Australia's first composite material recovery platform.

Qualifications

• Background in chemical, materials, mechanical, or process engineering.
• Hands-on experience in a pilot or lab environment.
• Interest in composite materials, circular economy, or industrial waste recovery.
• Self-starter capable of thriving in early-stage startup ambiguity.

Responsibilities

• Support process optimisation and characterisation testing at Ballarat pilot facility.
• Work directly with our technical co‑founder on scaling the chemical separation process toward commercial throughput.
• Contribute to material testing protocols for recovered glass fibre, carbon fibre, and byproduct streams.
• Support the design and commissioning of Hexite's first commercial-scale facility.

Hexite is building Australia's first composite material recovery platform. We recover glass and carbon fibre from end of life composite waste, including wind turbine blades, using a patented chemical separation process operating below 90 degrees. The technology is independently validated by CSIRO and UNSW at 87% clean fibre recovery, with a granted patent and two pending. We're backed by UQ Ventures and currently scaling from pilot to commercial operations in Ballarat, Victoria.
