Job summary

Serco's Acacia Prison in WA is seeking a Social Worker to join the Psychological Health Services team. You will provide assessment, counselling and therapeutic interventions onsite, supporting individuals in a correctional setting with psychological and social needs.

You will work within a multidisciplinary team to deliver goal-directed, evidence-based care, complete risk assessments, and maintain defensible clinical documentation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor or Masters degree in Social Work.
• Eligibility for membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW).
• Understanding of evidence-based assessment and intervention practices across psychological, social and behavioural presentations.
• Experience providing individual counselling, ideally in correctional, welfare or similar institutional settings.
• Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
• Strong written communication and defensible clinical documentation.
• Genuine interest in supporting vulnerable individuals and contributing to positive outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality care within a multidisciplinary team to individuals in distress.
• Conduct comprehensive risk assessments and develop treatment plans for at-risk individuals.
• Offer individual counselling and therapeutic interventions.
• Support those with complex presentations through evidence-based, goal-directed interventions.
• Prepare accurate clinical documentation, including notes and treatment plans.
• Contribute to ongoing delivery and development of psychological health services in the prison.
