Job summary

The Department of Justice and Community Safety’s Security and Emergency Services Group (SESG) seeks a Prison Supervisor for Corrections Victoria. You will lead day-to-day operations, manage SESG portfolios and oversee custodial teams across the correctional system.

Key duties include implementing SESG procedures, guiding staff through safety and security protocols, and reporting to senior management while working the occasional weekend and public holiday as required.

Qualifications

• Some understanding of SESG's operations and procedures or professional experience working in safety or security.
• A standard of fitness or the ability to attain a level of fitness that would withstand the physical demands of the role.
• Commitment to high standards through strong team leadership.
• A working knowledge of the full range of Microsoft Windows and MS Office application suite.

Responsibilities

• Day-to-day management of assigned work areas within SESG (chemical agents, firearms, canines, OH&S, HR).
• Develop, implement and review SESG practices and procedures.
• Lead working parties and reference groups; provide written reports to senior management.
• Manage custodial teams delivering security and emergency services across the correctional system.
• Encourage productivity and professional growth; contribute to cultural reform and governance.
