Job summary

The Department of Justice and Community Safety VIC – Mildura region is seeking a Recreation Officer to assess prisoners' recreational needs and to develop, implement and evaluate sport and hobby programs that support rehabilitation and wellbeing. You will deliver services within shift patterns, ensure safety, and plan a wide range of activities while maintaining clear attendance records and safety checks.

The role requires flexibility for weekend/evening work and a collaborative, diverse team

Qualifications

• You must complete the Victorian Prison Officer Pre-service training program.
• A Certificate III in Fitness or higher is an advantage, but not essential.
• You should have strong communication and planning skills, with the ability to stay calm under pressure.

Responsibilities

• The Recreation Officer will assess recreational needs of all prisoners to develop, implement and evaluate programs.
• Deliver services ensuring safety and security of participants.
• Plan and run sport and recreation programs for prisoners, including special events.
