Job summary

GEO Healthcare, a subsidiary of The GEO Group Australia, provides primary healthcare to men in Victoria’s public prisons. Western Plains Correctional Centre in Lara hosts opportunities for Primary Mental Health Nurses to deliver high-quality mental health care.

Roles include assessments, clinics, and collaboration with FMH services, with full-time and part-time arrangements. The base salary is approximately AUD 113K plus loadings and benefits, including professional development opportunities.

Qualifications

Post Graduate Diploma in Mental Health Nursing or Master of Mental Health Nursing required.
Minimum 12 months experience in mental health within the last 3 years.
Ability to work unsupervised delivering primary mental health services.

Responsibilities

Provide primary mental health nursing services in a prison setting.
Conduct risk assessments for self-harm or suicide within required timeframes.
Run primary mental health clinics: assess, plan treatment, review and discuss care with patients.
Offer consultancy to primary health nursing staff and other service providers.
