Responsibilities

  • Provide hands‑on technical leadership across multiple sites and stakeholders to ensure compliance and timeliness.
  • Oversee data migration, quality, validation and reconciliation activities critical to data accuracy.

Principal Technical Project Manager, Digital Health Projects

Department of Health Victoria – Melbourne VIC

The Principal Technical Project Manager is responsible for the delivery of complex digital health integration and clinical system implementation initiatives across the Victorian public health sector. The role is responsible for planning, coordinating and delivering projects involving HL7 integration, FHIR-based interoperability, commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) products and clinical system implementations, working closely with clinical, technical and vendor stakeholders to ensure safe, compliant and timely outcomes.

About you:

  • A tertiary qualification in information technology, information systems, engineering or a related discipline is mandatory. PRINCE2 certification (or equivalent) is desirable.
  • Demonstrated experience delivering complex digital health projects involving clinical systems and interoperability, including design, build, integration, testing, deployment and transition to BAU.
  • Hands‑on technical leadership experience with HL7 messaging, FHIR standards and health information exchange.
  • Proven experience managing healthcare system integration projects, including delivery of COTS products and clinical system implementations, coordinating vendor delivery, and ensuring operational readiness across multiple sites/organizations.
  • Demonstrated experience overseeing data‑related delivery activities for major systems, including data migration, data quality, validation and reconciliation, particularly where data accuracy and integrity is essential.
