Job summary

NES Fircroft are seeking a Principal Subsea Systems Engineer to join the Perth office for an initial 12 month contract. You will lead system engineering assurance across subsea wells, trees and interfaces, coordinating HAZOP/LOPA/SIL reviews and ensuring safety in design across DEFINE/EXECUTE stages.

Responsibility includes defining the subsea system, managing interfaces, and delivering documentation (PFDs, PIDs, schematics) while ensuring schedules, quality, and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• 15+ years offshore/subsea oil and gas experience with progression into system engineering.
• HAZOP/HAZID/LOPA/SIL experience.
• Understanding subsea production system architecture and equipment.
• Experience across multiple subsea engineering disciplines and interfaces.
• Lifecycle knowledge from FEED through commissioning.
• Stage-gated project maturation and assurance activities.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain system definition, interfaces, and operability documentation (PFDs, PIDs, schematics, RATS, CAEs).
• Support Formal Safety Assessments and contractor technical reviews (HAZOP, LOPA, SIL).
• Lead system engineering oversight across wells, trees, manifolds, flowlines, umbilicals, controls, and host interfaces.
• Ensure deliverables meet schedule, quality and regulatory requirements through reviews and change governance.
• Understand existing subsea system configuration, capacity and limitations.
• Drive timely technical decisions by framing issues, evaluating options, and engaging stakeholders.
• Incorporate system engineering requirements into installation and commissioning philosophies and procedures.
• Handover and information management for the project.
