Job summary

Baraja seeks a Principal Software/Firmware Engineer for a full-time on-site role in Sydney's North Ryde office. You will own the full software stack for our LiDAR products, from signal processing algorithms to embedded firmware, visualization tools and ML at output, enabling world-first features.

The ideal candidate has 10+ years of Python DSP, embedded C/C++, and VHDL on Xilinx SoCs, with strong ML and CI/CD leadership.

Qualifications

• Masters or PhD preferred in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science; Bachelor's required or equivalent.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in Python-based DSP design, simulation, and embedded implementation on Xilinx SoC devices (C/C++ and VHDL).
• Experience implementing ML algorithms and handling training data; strong CI/CD leadership.
• Demonstrated technical leadership in software across disciplines; Australian citizenship or valid visa required.

Responsibilities

• Own the full stack of software in Baraja's LiDAR products, from algorithms to embedded firmware.
• Develop visualization tools and ML components applied to pointcloud outputs.
• Lead development infrastructure and CI/CD practices across the software discipline.

Principal Software/Firmware Engineer

This is a full-time on-site role based in our Sydney (North Ryde) office. We’re looking for a very special type of technical person - as the Principal Software/Firmware Engineer at Baraja, you will be responsible for the full stack of software in our LiDAR products, from algorithm signal processing design and implementation to embedded (firmware), and also the visualisation tools and machine learning applied at the output of the data (pointcloud). You will work on our up-and-coming technology, with new-to-world features.

To be successful you will need:

• Masters or PhD degree on Electrical Engineering or Computer Science preferred. Bachelor’s degree minimum requirement, would require to demonstrate equivalence through experience.
• Proficiency (min. 10 years) in high-level (e.g. Python) DSP design, simulation, verification, leading to implementation in embedded systems (Xilinx SoC devices – C/C++ and VHDL).
• Experience implementing Machine Learning algorithms and the corresponding best practices for the handling of the training data.
• Demonstrated commitment to CI/CD and ability to lead the way in our development infrastructure.
• Demonstrated technical leadership in Software discipline & collaborative approach across technical disciplines
• Australian citizen or valid visa to work in Australia
