Job summary

triniti seeks multiple experienced Principal Java Software Engineers / Technical Leads to support a large Federal Government agency on an initial 12-month contract, with extensions of up to 24 months. You will guide Agile teams, set engineering standards and own technical delivery in a secure, scalable enterprise environment.

These roles require strong hands-on development and leadership, with expertise in Spring Framework, Java/J2EE, RESTful APIs and modern container platforms.

Qualifications

• Australian citizens only, with a Baseline clearance preferred.

triniti is seeking multiple experienced Principal Java Software Engineers / Technical Leads to support a large Federal Government agency on an initial 12-month contract, with extensions of up to 24 months.

These are excellent opportunities for highly experienced Java Developers to take a leading role in the design, development and delivery of complex enterprise applications within a large-scale government technology environment.

The successful candidates will be accomplished Senior or Principal Java Engineers, combining strong hands-on development expertise with proven technical leadership capabilities. You will be responsible for guiding Agile development teams, driving engineering standards and taking ownership of technical solutions and delivery outcomes, while collaborating with stakeholders to deliver secure, scalable and high-quality enterprise applications.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the design, development and delivery of complex Java-based enterprise applications.
• Provide technical leadership and guidance to multidisciplinary Agile development teams.
• Oversee software development activities, ensuring high-quality, maintainable and secure code.
• Drive technical design, solution development, prototyping, testing and implementation activities.
• Review technical solutions, assess requirements and resolve complex development challenges.
• Mentor developers, promote coding standards and champion engineering best practices.
• Support application releases, production deployments and ongoing maintenance.
• Collaborate with architects, business stakeholders and technical teams to deliver successful outcomes.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of development practices, processes and technologies.

Skills & Experience:

• Australian citizens only, with a strong preference for an existing Baseline clearance.
• Experience withing Federal Government or similarly large, complex enterprise environments will be highly regarded.
• Strong experience with Spring Framework / Spring Boot and enterprise application development.
• Extensive Java/J2EE development experience within large enterprise environments, including established Java platforms and legacy application modernisation.
• Expertise in RESTful APIs, web services and enterprise systems integration.
• Strong SQL and relational database experience, ideally including IBM DB2.
• Experience with messaging and integration technologies such as IBM MQ, SOAP and IBM API Connect.
• Knowledge of OpenShift, Kubernetes, Linux containers and containerised application environments.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, Git/GitLab and modern development practices.
• Demonstrated experience in technical design, software architecture and complex problem-solving.
• Proven ability to lead development teams, mentor engineers and drive technical delivery outcomes.
