Job summary

Blacktown City Council is seeking a Principal Roads and Transport Engineer to lead planning and delivery of major road projects in the Blacktown area. The role involves reviewing layouts, upgrades, safety issues and working with NSW Transport, consultants and contractors to move projects from planning through to delivery.

You will prepare cost estimates, risk assessments and funding submissions, manage scope and budgets, and provide technical guidance to engineers.

Responsibilities

• Lead planning and development of complex road and transport projects.
• Review intersection layouts, active transport facilities and upgrades.
• Check designs against standards and resolve technical safety issues.
• Perform site inspections and road safety audits with stakeholders.
• Prepare technical reports, cost estimates, risk assessments and funding submissions.
• Manage project scope, budgets and timeframes; review consultant work.
• Provide technical guidance to junior and mid-level engineers.
