Job summary

IT Alliance seeks a hands-on Principal Python Software Engineer for an offsite-remote role focused on data platform and DevOps. NV1 security clearance is required. Location is Canberra with remote work across Australia.

You will design and implement Python-based data processing systems, containerised workloads with Docker and Kubernetes, and secure APIs, while enhancing CI/CD, testing, observability and platform resilience.

Qualifications

• Expert Python software engineering with distributed data platforms.
• Strong experience designing and evolving data processing pipelines.
• Hands-on Kubernetes, Docker and cloud-native architectures.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and enhance Python applications and distributed data components.
• Integrate data parsing, enrichment and schema mapping into processing workflows.
• Develop secure data export, automation and data processing pipelines.
• Refactor services into reusable libraries for containerised deployments.
• Develop Python API clients from OpenAPI specs and manage token-based auth.
• Collaborate with stakeholders and contribute to operational runbooks and docs.
