Job summary

Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure (DPHI) in NSW seeks a Principal PEGA Application Developer to lead the design, development, and ongoing support of PEGA solutions for the NSW Planning Portal.

In this ongoing full-time role, you will mentor junior developers, enforce governance, ensure security and scalability, and collaborate with project teams to deliver robust PEGA capabilities for digital planning across NSW.

• Join us as a Principal PEGA Developer and help drive the digital transformation of NSW’s Planning Portal.
• Temporary full-time opportunity for up to 12 months
• Parramatta preferred, Newcastle and Orange considered upon application
• Salary relative to experience, and ranges from $154,231 to $178,369 + super

In this role you will

We’re looking for a highly experienced in-house Principal PEGA Application Developer to join the Corporate Services team at Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure. In this ongoing, full-time role, you will take the lead in designing, developing, and supporting robust PEGA solutions for the Planning Portal—helping to shape the digital future of planning in NSW.

You will be part of a collaborative, forward-thinking team where your expertise will make a real impact. From mentoring junior developers and integrating new technologies, to ensuring our digital services are secure, scalable, and user-focused, you’ll play a key role in every stage of the development lifecycle. Working as part of the core developer team you will ensure governance is applied across projects related to the NSW Planning Portals. Work with project delivery teams to ensure development standards are adhered to across the Pega Platform, leading the way on enforcement of principles and processes to support a smooth transition of projects back into the operational teams.

• Deep technical expertise in PEGA, cloud platforms (AWS/Azure), APIs, automation, and CI/CD tools.
• Experience mentoring and developing others, fostering a culture of learning and best practice.
• Commitment to innovation, continuous improvement, and staying ahead with new technologies.
• Strong focus on compliance, cyber security, and managing technical debt in complex environments.

Essential

• Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field and/or equivalent level of knowledge and experience.
