Job description

The National Fire Ant Eradication Program (NFAEP) is Australia's largest eradication initiative and one of the most complex biosecurity programs in the country. With thousands of properties treated each year and a workforce operating across multiple regions, the program delivers a coordinated response to one of the world's most destructive invasive species.

You will lead large operational teams delivering one of Australia's largest biosecurity programs. This is a unique opportunity to drive performance, lead leaders and contribute to a nationally significant eradication program that helps protect Queensland's communities, environment and economy.

This position will initially be based at Burleigh. Following the transition to our new operational footprint, the position will relocate to Scenic Rim for the remainder of the appointment. Applicants should ensure they can meet the operational requirements of both locations.

This opportunity offers the perfect balance of metropolitan convenience and operational impact. You will lead a diverse workforce responsible for delivering critical field operations while working closely with government, industry and community stakeholders.

As a Principal Operations Coordinator, you will lead a significant operational workforce and contribute to strategic decision making that supports the program's long-term success. You will work in a fast-paced environment where no two days are the same, balancing people leadership, operational performance and stakeholder relationships to achieve program outcomes.

In this role, you will:
  • Lead teams delivering Australia's largest fire ant eradication program.
  • Drive safe, effective and efficient field operations.
  • Manage people, resources and operational performance across a large region.
  • Build strong relationships with staff, stakeholders and local communities.
  • Influence operational improvements and contribute to strategic program outcomes.
What we're looking for

We're seeking a proven leader who can inspire others, navigate complexity and deliver results through people. What matters most is your ability to lead large teams, manage competing priorities and drive performance.

The successful candidate will demonstrate:
  • We're seeking an experienced operational leader who can:
  • Lead and develop Team Leaders and large operational workforces.
  • Manage complex operations, resources and competing priorities.
  • Drive safety, performance and continuous improvement outcomes.
  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders and diverse teams.
  • Make sound decisions and deliver results in fast-paced environments.
  • Translate strategy into practical operational outcomes.
To be eligible, you must hold a current Australian C class driver licence.

Join a program where your leadership will contribute to protecting Queensland today while helping secure a safer future for generations to come. Join us and help protect Queensland from one of the world's most invasive pests.
